A deliberately-retro Japanese-exclusive 2D platformer for the Wii, featuring numerous metafictional gags that parody the "8-bit" era of video games.
A 'masocore' parody of Super Mario Bros., featuring an anthropomorphic cat. The game deliberately subverts many of the mechanics that one would expect to find in a platformer. Players must use trial and error to figure out how to pass the game's myriad traps.
Chou Genjin 2 (Super Bonk 2) is the Japanese only sequel to the original SNES game featuring Bonk.
Like the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (AKA "Lost Levels"), Super Boy II more or less uses the same engine and graphics as its predecessor but switches up the levels.
The most well known game out of the Alex Kidd series, Miracle World follows the adventures of the plucky little lad Alex as he fights his way through 16 stages to find his long lost brother. Sega's answer to Super Mario Bros, Miracle World is a more ambitious platformer, with more varied levels, quirky Roshambo battles, and a longer adventure.
