My mac is sufficiently old. I got one of the first macbooks with a dual core processor. as such, the only games I'm able to play on steam are the lucas arts adventure pack. Anyway, I'm looking into getting a newer mac, any suggestions?

Keep your mac for day to day use and build a gaming desktop PC. I think that makes for the perfect balance

If you like video games, you should stay away from Macs.

Depends on what else you do with your mac. You can game properly with the new iMacs with i5 or i7 CPU's if money is an issue and you really want OS X. Personally, I bought a Mac Pro quad due to what I work with (Radio/TV/Newspaper) and even Crysis runs smoothly with the measly GT-120 card it came with (under bootcamp ofcourse) if you don't crank up the resolution all the way. A Mac Pro costs a LOT of money though so if you're only into gaming and not so much into other CPU-demanding tasks or work-affilliated stuff then go for one of the iMacs if you don't want a gaming PC as the other guys suggested.

Mac's simply don't have the hardware to play games.

Even the top-tiered macbooks have like what, 512mb of vram?

My iMac which was pretty good, but a bit old, only has 128mb of vram. Really apple?

Anyways, so yeah... get a 360, or get a PC.

Clueless. Macbook pro is probably the best laptop for gaming yet. All you have to do is partition the harddrive and run XP. Played ME2 maxed out on mine, never ran into a hiccup.

You cant go wrong with a Macbook Pro. Best in class portability and battery life make it a great notebook.
