So it is back to open world. And also... this makes the existence of Edge of Time super-weird. Two Spider Man games in about 6 months? Werid. But yeah, looks a lot better than Edge of Time.

I love Spider-man as a hero, and Spiderman 2 on PS2 was awesome, but the last two games have totally put a downer on the franchise for me. He's now 'token comic book guy' that they roll out when they need to produce a two-bit superhero game.

So while it's great to see a move back to the open world format, I'm just a bit meh about it. Naturally they have to release it next year to tie in with the movie but if they'd spaced it out and came back in a big, Arkham Asylum style way I'd actually be excited.

This reminds me of that Gamecube one where you could unlock the Goblin and clear levels as him (even with changed events for him!).

That's a good thing, but the last two games these lads put out looked fun, played crap.
I ain't got no hope for this.

Ugh! Beenox again? Can't we please just get Treyarch back on making Spider-Man games?

Yeah, you're definitely thinking of the first movie game.

Spider-Man 2, as far as I'm concerned, was both the beginning and the end for the Spider-Man video game franchise. Both the apex and the impetus of certain doom. I'm not sure we'll ever see anything quite as visionary as that game come from Spider-Man in the future.

Confirmed to be a tie-in with the movie. I'm not holding my breath for this one.

Giant boss fight. Or at least that's what it looks like. I'll give a benefit of doubt. I personally love the cell shaded Amazing Spider Man game. Looking forward to it but overly excited about it since expectation can lead to some terrible disaster

Spider-man looked pretty good, and it seemed really fast. Looks alright, I guess.

Dude, if this was just Spider-Man 2 remade perfectly and simply had HD models/textures for everything, I would put some motherfucking hours into it. I loved that game. I have a small beacon of hope for this.

I am so down for a open world Spider Man game, I loved Spider Man 2. I even collected all the tokens. Something else.

Given the detail in the animations and the scale they seem to be giving the city, I'm nervously anxious to see more. I don't want to get my hopes up, but at the same time...I mean...it's Beenox. If they were to stick with doing Spider-Man Noir games, I wouldn't be too sad, though.

I hope this one has a bunch of cheats and unlockables like the others. They always seemed fitting in the spidey universe.

Definitely excited for this, but I wish they showed a bit more. I have enjoyed all of the open-world Spider-Man games, but there are many many ways where there could be improvements. By now, they seem to have the traversal and combat mechanics completely down, but I've never really felt too compelled to actually care about any of the missions. I have a really good feeling about this one, though. Maybe it'll even top Ultimate Spider-Man!

They have nailed how much fun web swinging can be, they just need to design a game around that that is fun to play.

It's just a shame this is based on the movie.  Spider-man 2 had perfect webslinging mechanics, but the world was dull, as well as the plot and characters.
Ultimate Spider-man was a much better game, because it had the same webslinging, but had more free range to do whatever they wanted with the plot and villains.

But this is at least a step in the right direction, I have no idea what they were thinking with the last two.
