    Is The Crossing VALVe's Next Game Post DOTA2?

    Sup fools,

    As some of you may remember, VALVe came out with this game idea ages ago.  Long before Portal was even a word.

    It mixes online with story mode as everyone you see is a living person.  The enemies are real users.  It's kinda like a self-contained matrix MMO.  It's hard to explain because VALVe hasn't said anything about it in ages.

    With the news that Gabe wants to not make single player games anymore (confirmed by Kotaku, and they are never wrong), is this their next project?

    In seriousness, could The Crossing finally be in proper development?

    I'm really interested in games that mix mp with sp in a way that makes it work so sure Valve is totally working on something. Why not? The one thing I'm always worried about though, is that one asshole that will completely ruin your game because that's what the internet does.

    That and other people in my video games tend to freak me out a little. I like everything nice and quiet.

    It was never Valve. It was Arkane, and they never found a publisher. Now Bethesda owns Arkane and they're working on a fantasy game, so I don't think so.

    @KaosAngel: @buzz_killington:

    To clear up some confusion, Arkane was making the game independently but it was using the Source engine and it was getting promotion by Valve similar to their arrangement with the people doing Sin Episodes. Valve were showing the games to the media. The same thing was going on with Left 4 Dead before the people making L4D got bought by Valve.

    Here's some old 1up footage:

    I can't tell if the comment about Kotaku is sarcasm or not.
