Killing Joke is the best Joker story. Period. Just the premise of "one bad day" makes for some interesting stuff.

Yeah, I heard it was great and apparently it's what they gave Heath Ledger to use to prepare for his role as the Joker....of course that came from wikipedia, but it sounds true.

You should read Batman: A death in the family and Batman:  The Dark Knight Returns.  Two of the best Joker stories.  The Man who laughs is also amazing.

Try to get the new special edition of The Killing Joke, if possible. It has updated colors originally intended for the graphic novel, and they blow the old colors out of the water.

The Killing Joke real shows what a bastard the Joker could be.  It's had lasting effects to this day on the characters.  Truly  a classic.

As far as the Wanted trade, it's good reading.  The beginning is very similar to the movie.  Then the movie veered off slightly.  Mark Millar is a brilliant writer.  You can't really go wrong reading anything he writes.   One of his current comics that's really fun (meaning violent) is Kick-Ass.  Marvel is reprinting the first three issues in a "must-have" collection.  You can find in-depth summaries (spoilers) for the first two issues here.  Issue 4 isn't out yet.

    Back to Joker talk.
