Fuck, I bought it for PS3 the day it came out, and only played a couple hours. Now I have to choose whether I wait or not.

I don't know, this seems a bit hard to believe. For the game to look as amazing as it does on PS3 required a massive amount of PS3-specific coding wizardry, and I bet that code wouldn't be trivial at all to port to PS4. On the other hand they are bringing their engine to PS4 for Uncharted so maybe it's just a matter of creating higher-res assets. The game is massive already, could they fit a PS4 version in under 50GB? Anyway, I will buy anything these guys release so I would love it if it were true. :)

Maybe the Terribly long loading screen when you launch the game each time will be shortened.

Hope so.

... i'd probably buy it, even at $60 (which I cannot imagine it being any lower, because Companies know people would pay it)

I'd rather have the one load than have to load every environment when you switch.

Oh certainly, I appreciate what that long loading screen did for the game, and the alternative of a Bunch of loading screens would be way worse.

But I'd still love if it was shorter.

Ha, that's cute.

god damn it! i really enjoyed the game - so much so that i suffered thru the eye cancer low rez of the ps3 to play it. I wish i had waited (of course there was no way to know this was going to happen)

For me, this isn't a game that i'd want to play again. I hated the combat, but stayed for story.

The real question is

Will it be censored in some territories like the PS3 version?

P.S. It's $60

That was only the multiplayer, though, right? If so it really wasn't that big of a deal.

#58 Edited by Hassun (969 posts) -

@yummylee: Yes it was the multiplayer. I did not even play the multiplayer mode and I still think it's a very big deal. I have serious roblems with all forms of censoring. Even if it does not directly affect me.

Censoring seems to be on the rise again and it has to be stopped.

South Park: The Stick of Truth - Censored

The Last of Us - Censored

Beyond: Two Souls - Censored

Confirmed by Sony and ND for a Summer Release:

  • 1080p
  • Higher resolution character models
  • Improved shadows and lighting
  • Upgraded textures
  • Director/Writer/Actor Commentary for all cinematics.
  • Includes Left Behind DLC, Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories MP packs.

60fps says the German PS Blog. Hmm.

$60 with the DLC is included is a pretty standard deal.

And nobody is holding you at gunpoint forcing you to buy it.

They are calling it "The Last of Us: Remastered".

It's not even a year old, sounds dumb to call it that.

#62 Edited by thebunnyhunter (1354 posts) -

Well apparently it has Developer Commentary so I guess im in for another Platinum run of this game. I would also like to have the hard copy.

#63 Posted by MooseyMcMan (10484 posts) -

They're making it sound like the game has seen some significant visual improvements, but I don't want to pay $60 for a better looking version of a game that I already have (and have already beaten more than once).

It'll be interesting to see how it looks. Yeah, there's that German blog mentioning 60 fps but I get the feeling that it's just a mistranslation since Arne Meyer is the guy who wrote the US/Europe blogposts and he didn't mention 60 fps there so it doesn't make sense why he would confirm it in a German interview. Stable 30 fps would be good though.

I wish the whole thing had commentary and not just the cinematics

What's up with Ellie's face in that box art? It looks messed up.

@zornack: You look messed up. But yeah, I'm not really a fan of this particular box art but whatevs.

How many people bought that remastered Tomb Raider edition?

#71 Posted by SomeJerk (3144 posts) -

@humanity: Shockingly many, going by the many forums I hang on. None of them whined about it being $60 which is weird.

Well why should they whine? Just because it's about a year old doesn't really change anything, these new editions are primarily for people that missed them and/or traded their old consoles in.

Yeah these are last gen games on current gen systems, but does that make it any different to ACIV? That's a slightly better looking version of the PS3/360 game, nobody seems to care about that being 60.

watch this alternate ending before you decide to buy it again.

Oh, the whiners are the ones going on about TLOU PS4 1080p (targetting 60fps) with $15+ of DLC being sold for $60, many of them were fine picking up Tomb Raider PS4/XB1. It's weird.

#75 Posted by xyzygy (9895 posts) -

it looks like i'll be waiting until I get a PS4 to play this then.

#76 Posted by Legion_ (1256 posts) -

That game is to me something I could never play through a second time. Couple of other games I'd like to see get this treatment though, like Skyrim, GTAV, Bioshock Infinite and Red Dead Redemption. Mass Effect series as a whole would also be welcomed.

#77 Posted by NTM (7266 posts) -

@sackmanjones: Nope, full price. I'm still going to buy it though.

#78 Edited by StrainedEyes (1321 posts) -

I just look at this like a GOTY edition. DLC included, some new features. Those are typically sold for full price and no one expects a discount just because they bought the original. I don't know why people think this should be any different.

Man that box art is disapointing; is it me, or there's a lot of light shining from both guns? It's impossible to not notice, there's more lighting on their guns than on their faces? You'd think that with a certain rise of less violent, more storydriven games it would be this other way around; just take a look at The Walking Dead's retail release. Still, if I get my hands on a PS4 in the coming months, I might try to pick it up, enhanced graphics and commentary and all.

P.-S.: There, I fixed your box art.

I suppose what I meant and somehow didn't write was "I wonder how many people bought the Remastered edition of Tomb Raider, that had already played it on 360/PS3"

From my perspective, as someone that has played and beaten Last of Us on the PS3, prettier graphics aren't going to make me re-buy that game for $60.

From the perspective of a new console owner that has never played the Last of Us and doesn't want to dust off his old console and/or doesn't even own a PS3, this is great news.

I just wonder how large is the percentage of people that haven't played it and own a PS4?

I actually can't wait to play this game.
