Third person action adventure game is the more general classification I would use, but it is also most definitely a shooter, if you're referring to the new one.

The new one is. The old ones less so.

Yes. It's a FPS Action jumpy puzzler thing. While it does other stuff it's also a FPS. Just like TR.

There's an awful lot of TPS gameplay in there, but overall it should probably be classed under the borderline catch-all term of ''action/adventure''.

It's more of a shooter than not, though the amount of time you have to spend in cover is negligible and there's exploration elements. It's basically just a tighter, more linear version of a Farcry game in third person and with better controls; and people call that a shooter so obviously they'd call this a shooter as well. Old Tomb Raiders except the first one had a whole bunch of shooting too.

It's an archery simulator. Guns. pffh.

If you're talking about every other Tomb Raider except the newest one? No, those aren't shooters.

The reboot that came out last year? That's a third person shooter, through and through. You could call it an action adventure, but the focus of that game is so heavily on shooting dudes that anything else doesn't seem to fit. Action adventure is just too damn general.

TR2013? I didn't shoot that often. I used the bow and stealth. Just by that description it sounds like I was playing THIEF.

I'd say it's action adventure because, while there is shooting, it isn't integral to the experience like exploration and melee are.
