    The Toronto Maple Leafs are a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League. The Leafs franchise are one of the "Original Six" members of the NHL and currently have thirteen Stanley Cup Championships.

    Rivalries

    As one of the original teams in the NHL, the Maple Leafs have formed numerous rivalries over the years. The greatest of these is with the Montreal Canadiens, which is acknowledged as one of the fiercest in all of professional sport and dubbed "Forever Rivals." Being in the same conference and division, the two teams face each other regularly leading to many heated and memorable matches. However, the Leafs and Canadiens have not faced each other in the playoffs for many decades. The Canadiens have won 24 championships while the Maple Leafs have won 13, putting them first and second respectively in NHL history.
