    Touch the Dead

Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Dec 07, 2007

Rather than the necrophilia simulator the title suggests, Touch the Dead is a "poke and shoot" DS zombie-killing game, allowing a player to mow down legions of the undead with the portability of the Nintendo DS.

Touch the Dead, 20$ CAN, may as well.

Well the first thing I must point out about Touch the Dead for the DS was that my urge to buy it was that it was 20$ in Future Shop and I though it looked good enough. A impulsive buy many would say. But for that price you get, what do you expect for a 20$ game on.
First I must say that Touch the Dead for the DS is the basic example of an arcade shooter, a point and shoot or with the DS touch and shoot, where the player has no control on character movement. But by shooting signs and objects you can get ammo, health and pick a certain direction for your character to take because at times there are such options. So in all fairness this game accomplishes this aspect very well as just being a arcade classic "shoot'em up". There is however a multiplayer mode which allows a player to play against someone else with another gamecard. You and your friend then can play together to hold off zombies in some sort of multiplayer mode. I do not know the full extent of the multiplayer, but it is only 1-2 player.
The boss fights in this game are simple at times, the loading sequence shows a picture of the boss and shows you were to shoot. But the actual execution of this task is easier said then done. I found it difficult at times and once, I almost made it through the first boss. I had the assumption that all DS games were casual so i did not expect any difficulty. So I threw my DS in rage as I lost to a 20$ bargain game.
In addition to all of this, the game also has a weak story. Your some guy who is in prison then is freed to find everybody in the prison are zombies and want to eat your brains, so you shoot your way out. Not much, but it will do, just as long it supports what you do in the game.
To sum up this whole review Touch the Dead is a perfect game for those people who love the touch and shoot, simple to get game that is Touch the Dead, but at the same time having a level of difficulty to the game. Though I gave this game a 3 out of 5 because of my own personal experience, others should not shy away. It might just fit that itch you have for classic, arcade, zombie killing, shooter, that takes place in a jail on the DS.
