Tower Rumble is an action/strategy game for Android and iOS that combines elements of tower defense, tower attack, match-3 and MOBA-like gameplay. Players can play solo in Campaign and Arcade Modes, or play against another in 2-player local PvP on the same device.

The object of the game is destroy at least 2 of the enemy’s towers, before the player’s own towers are lost. Troops for both factions are spawned over 3 battle lanes. The player affects the battlefield by matching and swiping spells over the soldiers.

    Match Spells and Swipe

Spells are randomly generated by color during battle. The main mechanic of Tower Rumble is to match spells of the same color to strengthen their potency, then swipe the spells into the battlefield to buff allies, debuff enemy soldiers, or deal direct damage. All spell bonuses stack, so overloading is encouraged to allow friendly troops to move quickly towards the enemy tower.

    Powerups

Matching spells may also provide a powerup chest on the battlefield. Powerups can be collected by tapping or swiping a spell over the powerup chest. Powerups can be used to turn the tide in battle with effects such as: direct damage spells for 20 seconds, ballista or catapult support, stun enemy units, or cause powerful champion soldiers to spawn.

    Skills

Skills are timed spell abilities that are also used in battle. Before the game begins, players choose a 3 skill build from a selection of 42 different skills. Skills have a cooldown timer, and can be activated once the timer has ended. Most skills affect a single lane, with longer cooldown skills affecting the entire battlefield. A good skill synergy used in succession can greatly speed up friendly troop progress for a particular lane.

    2 Player Local PvP

Local PvP matches are supported in Tower Rumble. Each player is positioned on opposite ends of the device with their own set of changing spell tiles. As time progresses, both players’ spells become more powerful to help bring the match to a close.

    Campaign Mode

In Campaign Mode, players micromanage their army’s abilities, deal with limited troop numbers and must complete a certain number of increasingly difficult campaign encounters before a set number of turns expires. In order to improve their army, players can go mining for resources or quest for artifacts that add skills and army levels. Campaign Mode also has cinema cutscenes that tell the story of the world of Artyficia. A final boss must be defeated to complete each campaign.

    Arcade Mode

In Arcade Mode, players must survive 40 levels of increasing difficulty. During each level, players can collect gold that can be spent between levels on leveling their army stats, spell stats or unlocking gameplay features such as spell traps and skills.
