A Taoist saint who sought to live forever. Originally, she had the power to listen to ten people at once; after her resurrection she could hear ten humans' desires at once.
Her lifetime was marked by wars between the ancient gods of Japan and those who followed the foreign religion of Buddhism. While manipulating the Buddhist faction, she used Taoism to grant herself superhuman powers, including immortality. When she was ressurected, she found that a Buddhist temple, the Myouren Temple, home to Hijiri and her followers, had been built over the mausoleum where Miko had slept for centuries. Once resurrected, she continued her war against the Buddhists.
Her character is assumed to be based on the historical Japanese prince Prince Shotoku.
