    Concept »

Trackballs were often used in arcade games. You spin them.

Trackballs have appeared in video games, particularly early arcade games, notably Atari's Missile Command, though Atari spells it "trak-ball". Football, by Atari, released in 1979, is sometimes misunderstood to be the first arcade game to use a trackball, but the designer of Football, Dave Stubben, clarified that their use of the trackball was in fact inspired by an earlier Japanese soccer football game by Taito.
