    Overview

Train Simulator: Kyushu Shinkansen is a train driving simulation game developed and published by Ongakukan for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on October 1, 2005.

The 27th installment of the Train Simulator series, and the sixth for the PS2, Kyushu Shinkansen follows the Tsubame train service from the Kyushu Railway Company after the completion of the first part of the high-speed railway network Kyūshū Shinkansen (which opened over a year prior to this game's release). It includes two separate routes:

    • Driving the 800 Series high-speed train on the Kyūshū Shinkansen, from Shin-Yatsushiro Station in Yatsushiro to Kagoshima-Chūō Station in Kagoshima. It includes three services, each with an adjusted number of stops: Non Stop Tsubame, Rapid Tsubame, and Local Tsubame.
    • Driving the 787 Series electric train (for the Relay Tsubame service) on the Kagoshima Main Line from Kumamoto Station in Kumamoto to Shin-Yatsushiro Station in Yatsushiro. Alternatively, players can run the classic Tsubame service, extending the destination to Minamata Station in Minamata.

It is not only the final installment for the PS2, but also the final installment bearing the "Train Simulator" name (not counting the PSP port of the previous game), with the last two games in the series switching to "Railfan".
