Searching for the lost legacy might not be much different from the rest but the adventure is still a fun one

With 10 years of legacy behind it I was beginning to think I had enough of the Uncharted formula. Which was absolutely true between the second and third game. It wasn’t until the forth game arrived that my love for swashbuckling treasure hunters was reignited. Then Naughty Dog went and made a side story starring Nadine and Chloe. Two unlikely allies needed to form a friendship in a unusual situation that starts on the rooftops of a war torn city that leads to rummaging through a ancient city to reclaim the Tusk Of Gilgamesh. All is not well in this part of the world leading to their main adversary being Asav who is the leader of a rebel faction who has his eyes on the same prize that the girls are after.

I thought this was a nice contrast to my other screenshot. Shows off a bit of the urban environment and our dual protagonists.

While the main adversary may just be another villain of the week archetype the real highlight is the interactions Chloe and Nadine have with each other throughout the seven hour adventure. They play off of each other so well it ends up being believable that they become friends by the time the dramatic train scene concludes. Since they don’t always get along which leads to some dramatic moments. Obviously some good chemistry isn’t enough to keep a game interesting which is why the gameplay retains its snappiness

I appreciated the fact that it felt like I could compete almost every fight by being sneaky.

Not much is really new from a gameplay perspective. Other than one chapter that opens up a small jungle to explore in any way you want to. It doesn’t have much for the player to do but it changes up the linear nature of this game. All the minor optional puzzles they scattered around were simple enough that I wanted to collect them all before the narrative kicked back into high gear. As for the gun play it is solid and this is another game where stealth is fun to do. While the standard grunts never change much the addition of boss fights with vehicles was done a lot better than I expected. Instead of setting up a crazy showdown both fights consists of using stealth to take em down.

The always impressive graphical style lets each section of the game come alive whether it is the grungy neon rooftops or the spectacle of a lost civilization. Which is to be expected but this also brings up another point. This is literary just another Uncharted adventure. A lot of what is show off here has been presented before and maybe you're tired of this formula like I was a while ago. Which is certainly a valid criticism. All the multiplayer is also tacked on from U4 as well which is nice if you skipped that game.

Overall that didn’t take away my enjoyment of the game. The small additions like the open world just made me enjoy it more. Sure it would be nice if they tried something more ambitious but this just feels like a stepping stone toward something brand new that they will tackle in the future. Since it was supposed to be DLC at one point. At least from my perspective this is a good game and if this little review got you interested in it too then I hope you enjoy it.

Bringing back excitement and adventure, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is an excellent addition to the franchise. 0

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was an event. It’s still one of only a handful of games that I’ve seen an advertisement for before a movie. And Uncharted 4 certainly was a success, selling 8.7 million copies to date, according to Wikipedia. Another cursory search indicates that Uncharted 4 won the most Game of the Year awards from assorted publications for the year 2016. Needless to say, Sony was probably pretty happy about Uncharted 4.I thought it was solid, if not particularly mem...

Lots of fun and very beautiful. Doesn't add much new but executes exceptionally well. The open world area and several of the vistas are very memorable. Was expecting closer to an expansion pack but it's a fully fleshed out game and well worth playing for fans of the series. Maybe only 2 and 4 are better.Played in Summer 2020 ...
