    Background

    Vault 22 was constructed before the start of the Great War in 2077 and functioned as an agricultural experiment, which involved the growing of genetically modified spores. The mutagen was spread using the Vault's ventilation system and eventually led to the genetic mutation of the Vault's inhabitants as well as an overgrowth of dense vegetation.
