Was also lucky enough to call in (asked about japanese action games). I really hate my general awkwardness and sound of my voice. Really glad I was able to call in though.

with you guys on the voice thing, jeez. usually i'm able to hold a conversation just fine but here i just freeze up - think it was to do with the fact that the stream was behind and i totally wasn't expecting to get through, haha. vinny, you're a saint for guiding my bumbling arse through that. cool to find out that maya is into some cool-ass metal though, and i have to admit the breadth of vinny's taste surprised me somewhat!

In regards to the section where Hamish (sp?) was talking about music, I will say most music I hear from the last 10 years sounds awful. There are outliers, and almost all of those are ones that don't get played on mainstream radio. Say Anything is my favorite band and they are very much a recent/modern band.

To everyone who called in, from an independent third party you all sounded good. From a listener's standpoint call-in questions from fans can be hit or miss, I think mostly due to the understandable nervousness / awkwardness from the callers. But you lot were all really pleasant and coherent.

Do they ask Boyes anything interesting about PlayStation? I find this rambling boring.

So the guy criticizing Lords of the Fallen because a single tactic works on all the enemies...I wonder if he's seen Vinny's excellent Dark Souls footage? [I haven't played Lords of the Fallen so I'm not trying to say the guy's wrong, but...]

@oni: Nah you sounded fine, I think most of us were paying more attention to Lang than the callers anyway. None of the people calling in came off as awkward.

Got to the part about bands with just drums and bass, and there are a quite a few fantastic ones, so go for it!

This would be a lot better if they just took text questions from chat. Or at the very least, if they screened callers. These people are horrible at playing along with Lang's bits.

When Dave Lang asks you "what's sexy?" in a creepy low voice. You are supposed to respond with something ridiculous (e.g., "Ungroomed Chest Hair" in a creepier lower voice).

So, am I crazy or are these completely sympathetic and just plain nice people calling in like two worlds apart from the terribleness and awkardness that is the Q&A panels? I enjoyed this stream so much and I can't make it through five minutes of the PAX stuff

@carnelust: I found the last couple of PAX panels to not be so bad, but yeah I was generally impressed by the quality of calls as well. There really weren't any major, awkward sticking points, and even the things that were a little more out there were said in levity. A big part of it is probably just that it helps when they're at home, speaking directly to the hosts, rather than being in a giant room with a couple thousand people looking directly at them. Obviously there were a fair number of people watching the subscriber stream too, but I'd imagine it's a pretty different experience. The only real criticism I could give would be that most callers needed to step up their improv game when speaking to Lang.
