Heeeeeey buddy.

I'm so glad someone (@alex) shares the ambivalent feeling I got from gta5. There was so much promise, and absolutely none of it was meaningfully fleshed out, leaving me unmotivated. And that ending kind of just farted itself out.

I enjoy these, quite as bit.
Thanks!

YouTube version doesn't work. "An error occurred."

I wonder if it's the GTA IV situation all over again, getting fantastic reviews at launch and then a few months later it turns out that nobody actually got into it.

Is there some trouble with the CDN today or just my ISP that suffers some shitty pipes right now?

Hey Patrick, congrats on the Ted talk. But can we get some more info on it? When is it scheduled to air on the website and what are you talking about?

Edited by erinfizz

I'm glad the archived video is working for me. I got "you are not logged in" when I tried to watch through Giant Bomb, and "an error occurred" when I tried to watch live through YouTube.

Yea. On everything they've talked about here, it sounds like GTAV has every exact problem I had with GTAIV. Hearing that they over-scripted the missions again really drains any enthusiasm I had to play the title.

Though I feel like all the GTA games have had lackluster endings, with maybe an exception for GTA3 for its simplicity.

Mortal Kombat Komplete played WAY better online on Steam than on 360.

I only speak for me, my brother and my cousin (we play tons of MK9 and are thrilled for Injustice)

I have had a great experience playing it online on PC as well. Only problem with online is finding people to play with. Its a dead community. But I have enjoyed the hell out of this game on solo and at lan parties with friends. I am super pumped for Injustice. ]

If anyone is on the fence about buying this game on PC get it. It looks way sharper then the PS3 version. Its really cheap and even tho there is no official 3D vision support the 3D is just as good the PS3 ver.

I agree with them on the ending of GTA V being a bit underwhelming... it was appropriate though, not seeing it ending any other way.

I am still digging GTA5, though I haven't gotten to the end yet.

I don't get Neo Geo X hate.

It was a portable system with a good build reminiscent of the Neo Geo Portable Color. The system plays the games as well as they originally played, came with 21 games, a charging dock that looked like a Neo Geo which lets you play the portable on TV, and also came with a USB Neo Geo pad that feels just like my real Neo Geo pad for 200 dollars.

My guess is people hated on it MORE because emulators exist than the device itself.

There were two very small things to hate on. The system forcing widescreen every time you turn it on being the main one(which easily could be changed by hitting the L1 button to switch aspect ratios and was fixed with a system update). The other being the price of the 3 pack game cards for 25 dollars... BUT, unless they only wanted one or two of the 3 game volumes, anyone would buy the 15 game version instead which wasn't bad at $70.

I'm very happy with mine and am just disappointed there won't be a way to get more game volumes in the future.

Really loving these Patrick and Alex videos, definitely add a different voice from the rest of the crew. A welcome bonus getting an early/ extra Bombin the AM with these two

Hey Patrick High Voltage had nothing to do with Vita version of Injustices. It was done by Armature Studios, the guys working on Batman Blackgate for Vita and 3DS.

Yeah, that was my bad. They did the PC/PS4 version. I just assumed they did the Vita one, too.

I think Patrick nailed my feelings on GTA referring to the two games thing, with IV as an except. Which makes sense given that I think GTA IV was the least open world-y GTA since III and that's probably why I was able to get into it and subsequently fall in love with it. Obviously the franchise is enormously popular and people love it up and down but I'm glad Patrick articulated what I've been trying to figure out about the franchise and my coldness toward V in particular.

EDIT: Almost as a reflex I violently yelled FUCK a few times when Patrick described Audiosurf in terms of knowing little about it.

I don't get why people love GTA 5 so much even when they readily admit what a flawed game it is. I think a lot of Rockstar games get tons of praise as soon as they release, and then over the next month or two people cool off and realize they're not really that great in a lot of ways. Really impressive world, but man that game's inconsistent

No spoilers... or expectations guys. Don't know if Sony doesn't know how to market Beyond, I mean they cast Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe for crying out!.. who was this game supposed to be going to?.. if not the main stream.

Patrick, are you playing Rayman Legends alone? They toned back the difficulty a bit from the most difficult parts of Origins, but it's still a lot higher than the first worlds of Origins. I've ended up playing through it on my own because my friends just end up dying constantly, friends I played with up to the gourmet land in Origins. The only thing that works all right are the music stages, because they've tweaked the game so that people lagging behind are pushed forward a bit to match the timing. They've also made scrolling stages a lot more forgiving, with a wall behind you that slows down if you slow down too. Maybe those are the tweaks you were thinking about.

(No reviews mentioned that you now collect a ton more teensies in each stage and that the king lum that made all lums worth twice the amount for a short period of time is now replaced by having to collect lums in a line. They should have, because man, that's not an improvement.)

Can anyone explain to me what was so good about "Children of Men"? I watched it twice trying to like it, and i was just so bored. The story did nothing for me and the trudging pace made me strangle myself with an extension cord

Its a complete mystery to me what people are seeing in this film.

Huh, I thought the treasure chest chases were by far the most fun aspect of Origins. I universally loved those levels.

Also, I have a fairly hard time in believing that Sony would be dumb enough to pay for Injustice being on its consoles. Unless I'm missing some huge Injustice community or something, it seems like a dying game that's not even all that well-received by people who are into games like that. Mehhhhh. PS4's gonna have Guilty Gear Xrd, so who needs that crap!

Patrick's doing a TED talks? this correct?

I'd HIGHLY anticipate watching that :)

Posted by mktacuara

@patrickklepek: It's fine, you corrected it right away. I probably over reacted since I worked on the Vita version of the game.

@patrickklepek @alex I'm on a week-long business trip in London, sick as a dog, can't wait to get home, and this took like 3.5 hours to watch over shitty hotel WiFi that I'm overpaying for. But goddamn if this wasn't just what I needed last night. Thanks to both of you for keeping a visible presence despite not being at the home office.
