I enjoyed FFXIII well enough and look forward to playing this.

I hope Ryan and Patrick get to do the upcoming Quick Look of this. I also hope it is good. I played a lot of Tactics Advance and a good portion of the DS remake of FF3, but other than that I have no experience with this series.

I played the demo and I couldn't be more psyched for this game. It looks better than its predecessor in every way.

@RAStemen: Yeah, FF13 was mediocre at best. But I like what Ive read on this new one. The monster companion stuff seems neat.

As much as I used to absolutely love the Final Fantasy series, I just can't get into this stuff anymore.  Maybe this will change things by adding some new twists.
 
I'm mostly just tired of how overly Japinsane (by new word for the insanity in many JRPGs) everything is.  I'm tired of the pretty boy characters with the same blond hair and angsty attitude.  I'm tired of the female characters that walk around and fight in totally impractical outfits that look like something a stripper might wear.  I'm tired of stories that seem like something out of a drug induced nightmare.

Getting a strong chrono trigger vibe after well... watching the Chrono Trigger ER...

Word, that dude deserves his own game. A cynical ex-pilot who dual wields guns, doesn't give a shit about the gods that rule over him, is basically the best parts of Eddie Murphy, and might just have the deepest connection to the story, yet he's practically ignored in FFXIII. Frickin' shameful.

I used to love Final Fantasy.

I'm actually starting to get excited for this game. As much of a disappointment XIII was, I was still really impressed by it, and had a pretty good time with it. I guess I'm a fanboy but Final Fantasy is so beloved to me, that I don't think I'll ever hate an FF game. Can't wait for XV to someday come out too!

Such a shame they felt the need to put a new male lead in the game.

FFXIII sucked so hard I didn't even finish it but this has a Moogle in it so I'm willing to give it a chance. I just wish that square enix would realize that a every character in the game doesn't need to be emotionally damaged with a traumatic past. Or maybe their intended demographic is 13 year old girls.

I am on the fence about getting this. I already hear bad things about this game and how it ends, but I'm one of the few that liked FFXIII.

LMAO! "Locations change over time" Cut to, dessert scene, blizzard scene, and.... rain. Yup, it changes over time alright.

Games gonna be so BOSS ^__^

If the story is going to be as poorly told as it was in XIII, no fucking thank you.

I didn't realize that this was being released in the dumping grounds of January.

The FF series has always had emotionally damaged children in it, it's just more awkward now when some of us grew up already and still see FF doing the same old tricks, in insane semi-realistic 3D. It's also strange that when there's clearly so much more work needed to create new FF games compared to the old, they still somehow come off as more lazy.

Eh, if you still like these things or you're new to the series and loving it, have fun and maybe experience similar burnout when FF29 is out in 20 years. I'm sure most of us "old-school" FF fans are senile by then and we won't be bitching about it.

It is not a Timegate it is a Fargate!

The demo has made me cautiously excited for this.

I would agree except that Chrono Trigger is a hugely popular and famous game without the ER. I would have immediately drawn comparisons even if there was no ER.
