Watching the screen roll is ok for me, but thanks for the warnings. The only GB game QL I've switched off was Beat Hazard, I don't know if I was unwell at the time.

For those wondering why the screen flickers like that, it's because the CRT is refreshing at a different rate than the video was being captured at. Likely 24hrz versus 30hrz

The Attract Mode setting is for the times no one is playing the game, but the machine is on. It basically goes through some gameplay footage to entice passers-by in the arcade to play the game. It's advertising itself essentially. You can have it play music/sounds when it does this or just silently play its attract video.

Depending on if you leave it on all the time, it would be making sounds in the garage when no one is playing it. So... do with that what you will. I would assume you'd want that OFF in that case, but if you turn it off when no one is playing it, I don't think it would matter much.

you should be able to set the shutter speed of the camera to match the refresh rate of the monitor. Would have made this more watchable.

As a kid always wanted an arcade machine. The ones I wanted most was Street Fight 2 Turbo and NBA Jam. It was a really cool video too watch with all the inside the cabinet and things you can do in there.

I thought it was funny when he got there. There was still a lot of stuff in front of it lol.

grew up in the middle of nowhere in CT with no arcades in site to go to for a kid of my age in the mid-late 90s so i never got to experience this in person , that said i used to play the genesis version when i'd visit my father . it definitely brings back memories just hearing all the sounds. it seems like danny will give this thing a happy home so i'm happy for him and the machine so thanks for this video it was interesting even if the flashing did nothing to help the headache i'd woke up with.

OMG I had the Cosmic Clash mini arcade machine in front of the cabinet at 5:15 growing up. I had forgotten all about it. Loved that thing!

Loved this! I could watch Jeff and Danny talk about videogame history and curios all day, I had to skip forward with the gameplay part though, I'm not even epileptic, it was just very unpleasant for my eyes, especially in my half lit living room.

Danny, the shutter speed on the camera is the setting you want to adjust so we don't see the flickering.

Yeah, gotta sync the shutter speed with the monitor's refresh rate. It's fiddly and annoying, because you have to trial and error your way to a decent image, but it makes CRT content so much more watchable.

Someone willingly getting an old arcade machine probably shouldn't mind "fiddly and annoying" too much though. :D

This is a great video but Danny waving his bare hands near the back of a powered CRT is giving me crazy anxiety. If anyone ever plans to do something like this themselves please be extremely careful, even monitors that have been unplugged from the wall for hours can carry dangerous amounts of charge.

I really got into basketball (NBA) in the mid to late nineties. I moved from the US to Japan in 1999 and stayed there until 2006. I did not have the opportunity to watch the NBA, so I kinda fell off it.

I got back into the NBA when I was back in states, sometime around 2010. I did a double-take when one of the sportscaster mentioned a player getting "facialed". Also, "drops a deuce" was another wtf moment.

I do not remember them using these terms in the nineties.

Like Jeff and Danny I too suffer with dad back. Great video.
