Oh, come on. It has always been dumb. Remember the old Video Things? I love this sort of random stuff. If you don't like it, there are always other things on the site.. I really hope they go all out crazy for the next few months.

Oh my god. Jeff said this would happen. You guys have literally tried this at home. A hotel room might as well be home to a bunch of drunk journalists. Not only did Jeff call it but he was an accessory to it. I'm very disappointed in all of you but at the same time the end result was positively hilarious. I wonder if any wrestling organization has considered using a wiffle bat full of water as a foreign object. Thanks for the premium content you freaking marks.

It's ironic, because it's content like their Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Musou game and other Quick Looks and content - which come from a position of ignorance and, for the most part, service no one - that has me visiting GameSpot or elsewhere. I love Giant Bomb more as a personality-driven website, than as a serious games journalis'y site where I'd go to be informed about games and whatnot.

That has literally always been the case though. They've made tons of QLs of games they don't like (a handful of Musou games, actually) and/or don't care to understand. I think it's a legitimate criticism, but not as something "new" or anything since they've had that sort of content since the very start.

I mean, we got close at PAX East with Greg Miller and the John Drake pillow, but Alex seems reluctant to talk about tables and actual "legit" wrestling matches. Something about the fragility of his neck and spine.

( and all of the premium content, old and new, is just solid gold in my opinion. ) Gamespot still takes itself too serious. The only content on there i do like is The Point.

Since when did I say dumb stuff wasn't good? My original criticism was actually about how its turning into a Wrestling and Dota site but I edited my post out of fear the "GB Illuminati" would get upset. They spent almost a week at PAX and all we got was a Q&A, a Panel and this? Check out Danny's tour of the PAX show floor, it gives you an idea of what the shows like, the GB Crew seem more interested in promoting themselves rather than gaming these days.

@ptys: Yeah if you think they talk about DOTA/Wrestling too much you can do that. (I won't agree because I love wrestling but whatever)

But this is more panel prep/prep for the Harmonix panel than actual wrestling content.

I love that Jeff Gerstmann can now add "road agent" to his resumé thanks to this video and the planning for this segment. Take a bow, gents.

Yup, I couldn't care any less for taking video games seriously. ESPORTS is the most serious. I love how some people feel offended by things like Jeff saying Yoshi is shit. Though he mostly means the mechanic of egg throws.

My complaint was about the sites focus on Wrestling, Dota and their own personal celebrity which the community loves to feed. No ones doing editorial anymore, its just dudes clowning on camera for their adoring fans?

But that's not even remotely true. Whether it's Patrick's articles, industry discussion on Scoops & the Wolf or the truckloads of Quick Looks we're getting again, there's no shortage of game coverage here. It just happens to be wrapped up in some endearingly stupid personality-driven content.

It's that combination that makes the site worth returning to day after day.

@ptys: I think that's fair but it varies from game to game. I consider some games as things that aren't to be taken too seriously and the editorial stuff does come across in Quick Looks or the podcast. If you mean complete reviews, I like reading em, but the video content does enough to point my attention towards cool games or put any message the guys have to say about topics. Plus the morning show may as well be editorial, its just not in written form. That being said, i enjoyed Guns of Navarro.

There isn't less video game content because of the wrestling content. There's the same amount of video game content with more wrestling content on top of it. If I didn't care for wrestling at all I'd still be pretty happy with the quicklooks and wrestling-unrelated premium content.

Patrick and even Alex are is definitely producing alot of content which I appreciate. Scoops was pretty much the sole contributor after Pax where we had a drought of updates for like 6 days. TGS was on and so I had to go to Gamespot as no news was being reported.
