I'm just happy there's more of a custom character than Hawke. Here's hoping conversation wheels are gone and spelled out dialog options are back.

My most anticipated game. The art is definitely a lot better this time around.

I love the art design for this game, hopefully it will be translated more directly into the actual game this time.

They talk a big game about player freedom and control, but given their past efforts, I remain skeptical.

Yo it's like Skyrim but with dragons.

No seriously, this game might be awesome. This time it seems they're giving that team the time they need to make a great RPG.

I'm damn excited about this, and I hope to god that this franchise will live a long time because I'm in deep now. I bought every book and 100 %'ed all the games. I feel like I'm channeling Vinny in this recent obsession.

fall 2014... still a year away :(

I guess a year is nothing if you compare it to the fiasco that was Dragon Age 2

Looks promising - I really hope they deliver. I loved DA:O and liked DA2 despite its numerous faults - I'm a sucker for Bioware games.

Did you not see the big fancy hat the player character was wearing? What more freedom could you possibly want?

The freedom to wear that big fancy hat backwards, at an askew angle.

Playing as a leader of a faction who actually leads people is something I've been wanting to see in RPGs for a long time now, ever since you became the head of everything in Morrowind and never actually got to tell them to do things.

"Begin to open up" is an odd headline, given that almost nothing in this video is new information. They've actually been pretty open since the beginning.

And I'm very excited about this game. DA:O was excellent, DAII was an odd thing, so much better in some ways and so much worse in others. Just hope they can successfully combine the best of both.

I'm so thankful Skyrim did so well. RPG exploration was dying and Skyrim showed the money men that games like that can sell well.

DA2 was a terrible experience for me, but I still have hope for Inquisition.

Fingers crossed that I'll actually be able to make a dark-skinned protagonist. There ain't nothin' wrong with my fair-skinned brethren, but y'know the deal.

This is slowly becoming my most anticipated WRPG until Fallout 4 is announced. It seems like they've realized their mistakes with DA 2 without completely abandoning what they were trying to do with that game.

Hopefully it's a healthy mix of Origins and DA 2 with some healthy inspiration from The Witcher 2, Dark Souls, Skyrim, etc.

I thought both ME2 and ME3 were great. I haven't played Dragon Age 2, but I hear it's not that bad. BioWare still remains one of my favorite developers. I almost always want to play everything they put out and have never thought any of their games were mediocre.

Although, I've only played their stuff since KOTOR though.

Well now im excited ... Im one of the few who liked DA2 so it all good and dandy but I do like their pitch for a more powerfull character (powerfull as in I have a lot of power over other people) than rathter being the small fry. If it works it will be very refreshing I think. But even if it does not I will probably enjoy the game so ... win / win for me , now the queston is how will it come on today´s consoles , how much will they cut etc..... I hve those save files in my PS3 that wouldnt want to loose :/

Sounds like they are basically abandoning DA2 with the exception of plot stuff.

I'm a little sad to see Hawke go, but the old school RPG guy in me likes the return to custom PCs.

I'll give benefit of doubt etc, but I'm not buying on launch like I did with DA2. I'll wait and see what reviewers think before I even touch this game with a 10 foot barge pole.

DA2 broke my Dragon age loving side of my heart. I'm only giving them the benefit because that studio once released games that amazed me and made my childhood a very happy one, as their games started my videogame interests.

You're on thin ice though Bioware. This game is your make or break in terms of your reputation and trust levels among us gamers. Please don't destroy it.

The above is a tad melodramatic but it's this way because of how much I used to really love Bioware games and the studio's philosophy. I felt like they'd dashed all that for the swift greed of a quick dollar over longterm loyal fans and customers.

It's unlikely that you'll see them go back. The dialogue wheel became a standard of Bioware's RPGs across brands, ie Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Old Republic. Note how often you hear "Bioware RPG" in these videos/interviews rather than stating the brand/franchise name specifically, whether it's Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or Star Wars. They may come up with a new dialogue system but it's very unlikely you'll see a return to form.

Like many others, I'll remain skeptical and wait for reviews. Even then I'll take many of them with a grain of salt, reviewers seem to get really defensive about Bioware. DA2 was the first Bioware game I couldn't bring myself to finish, such a disappointment.

@gaspower: The title of the video implies that the developers are just "beginning to open up" when they have been saying a lot of this information and showing a lot of this footage and these screenshots for about a month or so. The multiple races stuff is the most recent "reveal".

DA2 broke my Dragon age loving side of my heart. I'm only giving them the benefit because that studio once released games that amazed me and made my childhood a very happy one, as their games started my videogame interests.

That "studio" -- in terms of personnel, motivation, and vision -- is barely a shadow of its former self; don't be fooled because the name still exists; it's just a meaningless brand name now. "BioWare" today has basically nothing to do with the "BioWare" which released the amazing Baldur's Gate games. EA bought the "BioWare" name to fool people like you into purchasing their products based upon "BioWare's" former glory, and according to your former enjoyment, but EA doesn't have the talent and inspiration to put-out ground-breaking products the likes of "BioWare's" former darlings. Back in the day "BioWare" could not have cared less about stock holders (they didn't have any) or selling millions of copies; they made those games because they loved games. EA doens't love games; EA loves to make money from games.

Fool me once: shame on you; fool me twice; shame on me. Don't shame yourself with brand loyalty.

I really want to like Bioware games, but Bioware's idea of 'mature, morally-grey' storytelling always comes across as so forced, its always reminded me of those scenes in Homefront with the mass graves, they don't show you a horrific situation to force you to make a difficult choice; it's basically screaming 'look at this fucked up shit, hit left for good points, right for bad points'.

Well, I watched the video on Gamespot, because I love to read their news articles, and I have to say this is a very good start for the next game. Dragon Age 2 was a good game, in my honest opinion. The only thing I hated about the game was that there were a lot of recycled environments, particularly the sewers and caves. That problem was alleviated by playing The Legacy DLC, which was challenging, but fun at the same time.

Inquisition however, has been in the works for 2 years now, and it already looks much more varied in the art style. I have a feeling that this will be as epic as Dragon Age Origins was, and I hope I'm right.

Right now my only wish for this game is to have my female Elf Grey Warden character come back. I last saw her saying goodbye to Morrigan in "Witch Hunt." We were friends, not lovers.

fuck off BioWare. That doesn't make me interested in at all. Don't show me some bullshit barely animated artwork and some fly-by's in an area and expect me to give a fuck.

you guys are seriously working on a slippery slope after DA2 and other BS.

I used to be such a BioWare fanboi.....now this shit annoys me. Tired of them showing us CGI crap that doesn't even end up making it in the final game (I'm looking at you DA:O and DA2.)

At least this had some "sort of" in-game stuff. But those stupid "fly-by's" don't mean shit. Doesn't necessarily mean that's how it'll look in the end-product once there's bog-down from it being populated and the AI's and effects are all going running. Just more smoke-and-mirrors bullshit.

personally I'll give a fuck once you show me actual in-game shit and not your team talking their usual smack to the tune of barely animated art frames and some fly-bys of empty areas.

Ahhh I can't help but still want to play this. The twist on your character's position as head of the inquisition actually sounds kind of interesting to me.

If part of this game climaxes with you putting Hawkes head on a spike, that would be kind of awesome (and I didn't even dislike Hawke!).

I haven't played Dragon Age 2, but as someone who played Dragon Age: Origins and found it super underwhelming, I'm not really going to be torn up if this game isn't great. Seems like it'd be fitting of the series.

I've loved both of the previous Dragon Age games, looking forward to this one as well.
