I thought the DSi XL was way bigger than that for some reason.   If someone plays a lot of handheld games, especially at home I could see it being pretty beneficial.  I'll stick with my plain ol' DS Lite for now though.  Especially with the rumors of the DS2 or whatever they'll call it being announced at triple E.

1UP got a sandwich the size of a buffet table and a DSi XL
Kotaku got a 5-foot sub and a DSi XL
GiantBomb got a copy of New Super Mario and a DSi XL.
 The irony being that the one site that really would have appreciated a giant sandwich got stiffed :)
