I HAVE been playing a DW game (actually, two), and I also consider the statement wrong: You have to press square AND triangle 800 million times

@scarycrayons: I have finished one of them on hard...2 or 3, can't remember which...I haven't played since. It's derivative and boring, same reason why I stopped playing Call of Duty with any fever since 4, and I skipped 3...the combos are not special, and the officers were never a huge challenge (except Lu Bu, he was a bitch).

It's kind of like the Dragon Quest/Pokemon mindframe.  Sure, the fact it never really moves forwards kinda sucks, but there's still a giant fanbase numbering in the millions who still love that style of gameplay.
 
New DQ games will always feel like the battles/plot/grinding were made in the NES/SNES era,  new Pokemon games will always feel like they had the original gameboy in mind, and DW will always feel like they're early PS2-era games.  That doesn't mean they're not still a ton of fun though, and new worlds/characters/weapons/missions/graphics/battle systems are the only thing fans really want from the sequels.  It works out well for all three franchises!

the developers for this series must be totally isolated from the rest of the world.  That looks like something that would come out in like early 2000s or something, not 2011.

Only pressing square a million times in DW is like only pressing light punch in a Street Fighter game.
 
You will definitely die to officers unless you're playing on easy, people will think you're kind of dumb, and apparantly the concept of performing combos to achieve different effects (stuns, dizzies, juggles, crowd clearance, and so on) are beyond you.
 
You keep on pressing square a million times and calling it a bad game, though.  We'll all be laughing from the sidelines.

Innovative? No.  New? No. Good formula? Yes.  Fun? Fuck yes. I just wish they would decide whether they want to be more Romance of the Three Kingdoms or overly anime-ish. Oh! And consistent character designs would be good, too. Just saying.
