Tokyo Mirage Sessions... What a nonsensical title. But perhaps coincidentally, the abbreviation TMS is also the abbreviation for Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) reversed.

I wish this was anything other than what it actually is.

I don't understand the Phoenix Down thing. It's the downy feathers of a phoenix, I get that, but what's the thing about it that's supposed to be mind-blowing?

I'm getting a very Persona vibe off this game now.

There's a lack of association with it. To me, and several others, it was just a name and not a literal interpretation of what you were using. I've had similar situations with "Grape" drinks and fully understanding it was supposed to be actual Grape flavored instead of just the color of Grapes.

It's really stupid in hindsight but if you live without connecting the dots it can be pretty mind blowing once you see the actual picture.

Really not seeing where the Fire Emblem influence is supposed to come in, but whatever.

If I remember correctly from the previews I've seen this game uses the fire emblem weakness system. So instead of fire being weak to ice its swords weak to spears. Also the main characters are all from fire emblem.

It's both fire weak to ice AND swords weak to spears, actually, and it's the Carnages (think Personas) that are from Fire Emblem.

Damnit why are there like 2 or 3 games that are worth getting for the Wii U? I'd totally play this but I can't justify buying the console for it.

Looks fun. I'll get it eventually once I'm done with a few other games but it's sort of odd to think this will be the last jrpg I play on wiiu instead xenoblade.

Initially, I was hoping this would be Fire Emblem style tactical combat blended with the SMT social linking, world and strengths/weaknesses system. Instead it's just a ... weird SMT game. Having said that, I'm still 100% onboard for a weird SMT game.

Anyone else sad that this is a Fire Emblem/Persona mashup instead of a Fire Emblem/SMT mashup?

This is looking really good, but where does the Fire Emblem connection come in? This looks like just another Shing Megami Tensei game.

Same. I was hoping for a modern version of the Majin Tensei games that came out in Japan for the SNES. I was really disappointed initially when they revealed this, but I've come around and gotten excited to play something new that I really have no immediate comparison for.

@klaimore: The persona-style summons in this game are Fire Emblem characters. Also, it borrows the sword weak to spears weak to axes triangle from Fire Emblem. But yeah, if you're coming to it just to get a Fire Emblem fix, it seems like you might walk away disappointed.
