Looks good. Is it for the Ouya?

Should Jeremy Clarksons talk??

Posted by Disaya

Why hello Alex.

Alex, it's a cool Bombastica and a cool game, but we can barely hear you, man. Game audio too loud...

I tested the audio on this one a bunch and unfortunately there wasn't a good way to set it without being too loud or too quiet. The problem with this game is that the audio tracks fluctuate a lot, so the opening track is way loud but the ones that follow are less so. I think once you get past that first course, you should be able to hear me better. Sorry about that!

we have the metric system Alex but we still use MPH etc in everyday use. No need to hate on us over here in the Enlightened Land of Science and Logic :D

It's either this or Uniracers for my favorite racing game for the SNES. Close call.

Top Gear stuck with me more throughout the years, though, especially with dumb jokes.

Also, complete thumbs up to Alex for picking the RIGHT DAMN CAR. Superior pit strategy wins races. Anyone who disagrees can enjoy going through the rest of their life being wrong.

Good call for a bombastica. Me and my cousin used to play this game for hours on end until our grandmother would chase us out of the house to get some "fresh air"

Posted by enyak

Hah, that's apparently the SNES US version of the classic Amiga game Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge. You should check out the original Amiga versions, especially Lotus 2. :)

@alex: Yes, it gets way better and it's like you said, the audio on this game fluctuates a lot. Watched it all, loved it. I looooooved this game when I was a kid, the music alone gives me such a nostalgia kick.. Great job, duder!

Edited by Herk

@mjhaylett: We do? I don't even know how to convert to mph and vice versa

Edited by thornie

I played an unhealthy amount of this game as a kid. This and the first Ken Griffey baseball game were always in my SNES.

@alex: Just a heads up, the video is in the Trailers category.

Thanks for a new entry to Bombastica.

Fuck yes Top Gear. My respect for Alex went up several fold. Now if someone would just feature Metal Warriors...

Edited by Parsnip

I was always terrible at this game, but the music is damn awesome.

It was really bizarre to hear that one melody reused in that No Time to Explain game.

Posted by GunsAreDrawn

Never heard of this before but Alex did a good job of explaining everything. This is the best entry into the encyclopedia yet.

Posted by MJHAYLETT

@herk: just type '1 pint = US pint' into google and a handy conversion thingy will appear. You can choose length, mass, volume etc :D

I can't be the only one who, never having heard of this game before, thought it was based on the tv show, right?

I love Bombastica. Playthroughs of whatever you guys feel like in the db. It's like the Jack FM radio station.

I've never played Top Gear, but I've spent terrible amount of time playing Top Gear 2.

I still recall that Top Gear 2 has great music !

Edited by spiketail

Worth it just for the tunes!

Same here. TG2 has some fantastic music.

Top Gear 2 and Rad Racer are both awesome as well.

I don't like miles or fahrenheit. Sorry 'murica but they just don't make any fucking sense. Why do you have to ruin it for the rest of the world with your stupid miles and fahrenheit?

Kilometers and celsius ftw!

Edited by afterland

I like the idea of Bombasticas as a one-man quick look. Alex and Patrick get to contribute to videos too, which is nice.

Posted by Chaser324

I think I've only actually played Top Gear 2, but I spent a hell of a lot of time doing so. Without a doubt one of the greatest racing franchises of that era, and it's not hard to see how things like this probably directly influenced Gran Turismo and the like.

Ok that soundtrack is pretty sweet

I deem thee Alex "Clutch" Navarro for that win at the end there.

Posted by TournamentOfHate

Always good to have more Alex on the site. :D

Posted by yyZiggurat

I found it difficult to pay attention to way Alex during the first race because the music was too distracting. So good.

Edited by Schnoo

No Alex it's we who should be apologizing.

I'm sorry Burma, Liberia and USA.

Countries that don't use the metric system.

Top Gear Top Tip: White car is best car.

Posted by ftrevelin

Damn awesome music!

There´s this band here in Brazil called MegaDriver, they play 16 bit game music, worth a listen to their version of Mad Racer

I also second what someone said about a Metal Warriors encyclopedia bombastica.

Posted by Pr1mus

Alex with the white car.

Posted by Winsord

I wouldn't have noticed otherwise, but you're totally right, a couple of the songs are very Muse-esque. Weird.

Edited by UnnDunn

OMG I loved Top Gear back in the day. The music... dear lord the music. So awesome, so addictive.

Pretty sure Top Gear made me a racing game fan.

Posted by Mezmero

I'm jealous of your bookshelf Alex. I had no idea Top Gear was a racist racing games. White car should not be superior to all other cars. You need to do a Bombastica for Royal Rumble or Raw. I played the crap out of both of those games with my bro. Thanks for this video!

I don't know, I like having granularity in my thermometer. Living in an area where I see both 0f and 100f degree weather it is not the worst thing in the world to have a human-centric scale to go by.

Also, fevers are easier to see.

Edited by Limiter31

I fucking love Top Gear 2. It kept the same awesome music too, plus more.

Posted by mrangryface

I always saw this game at the video rental store but never picked it up*

The white car looks down on all the colored cars.

Posted by Dino_Sousa

@herk: Yeah, I don't really get whe're you're using MPH here... I agree with @mjhaylett, at times I still get confused with the conversion, that's how little we have to use it...

Edited by SatelliteOfLove

Music so damn good.

Look like pole position to me. Not that you kids would remember pizza joints enough to remember those cabinets. Or arcade cabinets at pizza joints at all. $1 in quarters and the time to wait for my folks order to cook what all I needed when I was 7.
