Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Is Replete With Cybernetics, Neon, References

This is what I call a video game.

That was easily the best trailer I have ever seen.

First 15mins of the game was shown in IGN, take a peek. Try to ignore the goofballs commentating and enjoy the ingame dialog and music.

Good to see animal life - or something analogous to animal life in the batshit crazy world that the FC3 devs created - in the game. I didn't see any wildlife from any of the initial leaked footage.

This honestly looks like a day one purchase, but how much does it cost? I'm assuming around $20 or so. For a stand-alone expansion... Looks like UbiSoft looked at peoples feedback on Far Cry 3 and went, "They want dinosaurs huh... WE'LL GIVE THEM FUCKING PANTHERS! AND DRAGONS! AND MICHAEL BIEHN!"

Amazing no one has done this before (or prove me wrong), nostalgia done right can be a wonderful thing.

I am not sure this could get any better than it already is.

Everything was better in the 80s. Politicians knew how to hide their shitty behavior, movies and TV shows were concerned only with pure entertainment with a side helping of selling action figures, there were arcade machines in every free standing building, the streets were PAVED in neon gold and music on the radio was sung by men in their 30s and 40s backed up by a drum machine.

EVERYTHING.

How many times do we need to say this is a standalone game before people realize this is a standalone game? Good lord.

Vice City came out, like, 9 years ago. I don't know what Pac Man CE has to do with the 80s, nor Geometry Wars, for that matter. Neon doesn't = 80s.

Different speeds at which the VCR played the tape. LP was shorter run time with better quality and SLP was longer run time with worse quality.

Double Dragon Neon, Rocketbirds, Hotline Miami, GTA Vice City, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Geometry Wars, I guess (if only for the neon looks), whatever part of Evoland overlaps with the 80s, Bionic Commando Rearmed... yeah, that's pretty much it.

Games with a "silly is always funny" tone? All of Saints Row, most of GTA, Duke Nukem, for what that's worth (which I guess also counts as early 90s retro? I don't know...), parts of Borderlands, seemingly all of Guacamelee...

Plus the TV shows and movies that run the same type of gag, of course.

Finally video games are having fun again! I mean I'm hard pressed to find examples of games that just say fuck it and run with what they are. I mean you can do literally anything, any godddamn thing in the video game medium yet so many developers are trying to give us closer to reality experiences, or balanced mechanics. Fuck that noise. Go wild, show me how imaginative you can be.

Sure, what I'm saying is that I think the joke is played out. I've definitely had enough of it, to the point where I didn't laugh (or chuckle, smile or smirk) at the trailer here, much as it seems to be made with genuine passion. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I feel for you man. I'm old enough to be a veteran of the AOL/Earthlink/NetZero modem wars and vividly recall excruciating download times. That being said, are box copies of games no longer a thing? Couldn't you have just bought it day one, installed it off a disk and added it to your steam library?

Yeah, I thought of that. The only PC version most stores were selling in this area was the $80 special edition. I bought BI kind of spur-of-the-moment at like 2 in the morning, so Gamestop wasn't an option. I don't really like going there anyway. The local Wal-Mart is open 24 hours and they probably had the regular PC version, but I refuse to give them money.

No less than 7 years ago, I was living only a few miles from where I am now and had a better, cheaper internet connection. For whatever reason, the infrastructure in my current neighborhood is some of the worst I've ever encountered in the state. Comcast also has a stranglehold on internet access around here, so it's their "fast-access DSL" (which is basically just dial-up) or nothin'. FIRST-WORLD PROBLEMS

@noelveiga: This game is clearly both reveling and mocking the 80's at the same time. A lot of the 80's did suck, but there's something endearing about how it sucked. Especially in this day and age of brown and grey, super serious shooters.

Joking aside this looks like a bizzare expansion such as RDR undead nightmare which is a good thing except you dont need FC3 to play :)

If I can still make cyber-wallets out of cyber-deer, then I'm double sold.
