Far Cry 3 Just Refuses to Stop Introducing New Villains

The people working on this game have a ritual where they watch The Dark Knight and simultaneously masturbate to Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker, then write some more Joker-knock off villains for their game.

So like Far Cry 2, it never ends?

This game seems to have so fucking much stuff to do that I'm afraid it's beginning to be TOO MUCH.

Despite a lack of consistency in setting, which they attribute to the notion that Far Cry means a type of game, not necessarily a certain story or character, it's been a great series to follow. I don't care if open games have some bugs. Skyrim is still the game I come back to most on pc.

Then again, farcry 2 was a complete bore. Possibly due to the setting and the lack of personality in the world creation. Sure, it did eventually ramp up and become a good first person shooter with a passable story. However as an open world game, it failed in my eyes. It felt like placeables on heightmap with funnelling rock formations making it feel like a series of interconnected paths rather than a true 'wander anywhere and discover things' kind of game.

Farcry 3 seems to be leaning more towards skyrim, in that it's world creation is interesting and varied. And that goes a hell of a long way towards making a game extremely enjoyable. For those of us who like to explore.

And when you have a game that inspires adventure, an occasional bug is a lot more forgivable. Imo.

No, I'm still pretty stoked for this game, if not more. I agree it is reaching the threshold though.

I still hate their shitty marketing for this game. As an open-world game it looks fantastic, but all of the psychological thriller shit they were trying to pull with the story (or implied psychological bullshit, I guess) really wasn't resting so well with a lot of the fans.

What happens if you destroy that guy's Apocalypse Now DVD?

For all its faults, Far Cry 2 did have great gun play, the guns felt right. I Hope they were able to keep that.

The lack of new game play footage since E3 makes me think that the game is too buggy for them to feel comfortable to show in public. FC2 was buggy as hell. Its five weeks away from release and Assassin's Creed 3 comes out in a week and they aren't doing much to make me excited for the game. Both these games are being published by Ubisoft and they demoed AC3 like crazy, I wish they would do the same treatment here.

I wonder on how many Xbox DVDs this will ship...

Seriously, either this game has 15 boss fights or it's 50 hours long.

i loved the 2nd Far Cry. I still remember watching all of those trailers and dev diaries before the game came out and getting all excited about the game. For some reason i thought the in-game map was the coolest thing. that and being able to approach a situation however you preferred. If they tidy up a few things about respawning enemies rates, play with the upgrade system, make it so the AI can't see you a mile away under cover, and adjust the aiming slightly, this game has a ton of promise. Can't wait for it!
