I'm really hoping that multiplayer don't overshadow the singleplayer like the newest Twisted Metal did. I was really disappointed in learning that you can only play as 3 characters there.

The multiplayer looked kind of bland in this. I don't like the character designs also the maps they were showing looked dull.

From what I've read and seen, not really, I guess. Seeing how there (most likely) won't be any old characters coming back and that the game doesn't happen in New York anymore. Or well, I guess there will be a few 'chapters' at New York, maybe they'll use those to tell some of the previous stuff. That and/or just a "Previously in Max Payne!" video.

But I do suggest still playing the previous games! First one might seem a tad clunky nowadays, but the second game is still a superb shooter, at least on a PC.

game looks amazing. Never played a MP game before so this looks it'll be my first. Will that ruin the story for me then if there isnt a summary on what he did in the first 2.

I've been mulling over speed in games for bullet time and other alternatives for a while. Everyone? Nearby? Others will probably have less sensitivity and therefore a slower reticle leading to less ability to shoot and react during bullet time.

But Speed control is a big thing because you can't just attach one person to it due to real time.

@Mr_Misery: Or developers can stop looking for ways to shoehorn in multiplayer into every series? This seriously looks really generic outside of 'bullet time' effect being in it, which really comes off being goofy.

Said it before, but I'll say it again. The Rockstar trade-mark trailer style is starting to get old. Also, it fit the feeling of RDR, it was a stretch with LA Noire, but Max Payne....

Looks decent, if slightly generic. I really like the look and feel of the game, but I don't see how the multiplayer will be fun. I guess the bullet-time mechanic applied to people in your line of sight gives your enemy a heads up that they're being targeted, but seeing as how bullet-time is supposed to be a 'power-up' of sorts, I would think knowing you're going to die long before you do isn't as fun as they'd like. I'll definitely give a try before dismissing it, but there's a reason time manipulation has rarely been implemented in multiplayer. Unless they'd "solved" it, I don't think it'll be a very fun mode. Then again, I don't come to Max Payne for MP.

When are developers going to stop plastering player names all over my damned screen? Jesus, what a mess.

If I want to know who just killed me or vice versa i'll just take a look at the death log. I'm okay with a fading player name when I look at someone but damn, always on player names and other useless information just really add a lot of distraction. Or simplify it, give everyone a color and put a colored dot over their head or something.

I still can't decide whether to get it for PC or 360. I usually get games for the 360 if I'm interested in the MP for it, since my friends are on the 360. In this case, I don't know how the PC community will be (new PC gamer), but the graphics are supposed to be better. One comes out the 15th, the other the 29th. Any suggestions, advice?

If you had bullet time, then players in your line of sight are only going to be affected. Players behind you and to the sides of you will still be going at regular speed, those in front of you will slow down.

You can already see a basic strategy of this in this video, activate bullet time when your enemy's have their backs to you so they don't have enough time to turn and shoot.

The Specialists mod for Half-Life 1 did that, and it wasn't difficult at all. It in fact, worked brilliantly.

Bullet-time was basically a 30-second item/powerup anyone could pick up around the map, and it basically had everyone within a set radius of the powerup user would go into slow-motion, with the user being allowed to aim/move /shoot a set rate a little bit quicker than everyone else. You could obviously still be killed as other players could still move and aim and shoot, but they would do so significantly slower.

Not sure if Max Payne 3 will do the exact same, but I thought that was a good way to incentivize it as a powerup for a singular bullet-time user (or even a team of users).

Man, I was already sold on Max Payne 3's single player. Multiplayer is like bullets of icing raining down on a delicious cake.

I hope there's a Free For All Death Match. That's always my preferred game type.

The Specialists was one of the greatest mods, pour some out for the source version that never was.

Just make everything else move super slow other than the people in bullet time.
