Compare this to the trailer with Bjork as the music, or even the Alice in Chains trailer. Looks like it's lost a lot of style over the years.

I wonder how much of the original concept/story is still there. Didn't Kasavin work on this?

If they can live up to the original promise of this game, then we should be in for a pretty unique shooter.

@DougCL: I was fortunate enough to be able to play it at PAX East and I definitely am getting that vibe too. I actually had a chance to speak to the head developer guy there and he was explaining that this is going to be a departure from Call of Duty/Battlefield in that it's focusing much more on the story of the individual soldiers, and there's lots of questions about morality and such. The gameplay didn't blow me away or anything, but it was solid, and the setting/premise and the promises about the story have me very interested.

Why do they all want the Nathan Drake voice? It's really jarring.

Ya except I think they may be referencing the book "The Heart of Darkness" that Apocalypse Now was based on as it it was written by Joseph Conrad which sounds a lot like the "John Conrad" referenced in the video.

The only thing that concerns me is the single-player will probably be something like four hours longs... and a tacked on multiplayer that won't even come close to matching Battlefield 3 so I won't bother with it.

I'm sure it'll be an awesome game, but I want a solid 10-12 hour single-player shooter... Multiplayer is owned by Call of Duty and Battlefield in this genre. When will developers learn...?

I'll reserve judgement though as it does look pretty awesome at the moment.

Totally how I feel. I know it's a huge assumption to jump to, but it's almost like you can see why Greg Kasavin left the team and went indie. They seemed to have had something really cool and potentially subversive on their hands but they've instead ended up with something that appears to be ever more generic with each new trailer released.

wow. that was a lot better than i expected. should be something to look out for. though i think Spec Ops: The Line is a pretty bad name. it's like they're going in the Modern Combat; Domination direction.

@TheKramer89: I think I read somewhere that the game is based off of Heart of Darkness, which is what Apocalypse Now was based off.

Ugh enough with fucking Nolan North already. He's not even good.

That being said game looks cool. A shame it's taking so long to come out and it'll flop.

Now I remember that music. It was in the X-men: First Class trailer. I wondered why it sounded so familiar.

Really interested to see how this turns out because of all of the stuff it has gone through, but it still seems kind of cool, especially after Alex's write up on it.

Looks really different from the other war games. So much cynicism when it was first announced, I always thought it looked great!

I'm rooting for this game, because everything I've seen looks interesting. And interesting concepts should be rewarded.

Hopefully it turns out great.

Really hoping they're sticking to their guns by keeping the emphasis on the moral choices and war-fucking-people-up parts of the game, instead of making it more CoD-like. The action looks pretty good but this is one of the few shooters I'd actually play for the drama instead of the cliché heroics.

So "John Conrad" (Joseph Conrad) I am guessing will be the Kurtz of this game and actually be the bad guy. Still looks decent though.
