Slow down with the news/videos! Ive been trying to go play some games, but you just wont let me will you!

EDIT: Meh, get kinda bored of behind the scenes videos, only good ones these days are where the developers have some fun and mess around in their offices, not just sit there in perfectly lighted rooms and scroll through some crap in a monotone voice that has the sole purpose of trying to sell the game. Oh, you went to [city] and took photographs? I havnt heard of that method being used to model cities in any GTA clones in the past 10 years....

Can't wait. The original Mafia was the first PC game I ever really played. Love the franchise.

The difficulty curve in Mafia was all over the place and some of the bugs made it very hard to love on occasion, but in the end the story and setting made it a must play. As long as they get those two things right I'm in.

i really really hope this game is just as good or better than the first game.  The first Mafia basically got me into trying to get into game development.  I was just soo impressed that a small Czech company(called Illusion Softworks at the time) were able to make an ambitious game and did it well.

My only worry is that this game is going multi platform from the start.  The first game was PC only so they made sure the controls for the PC game worked and apparently the ports to the consoles weren't that great.  I really hope they make sure no platform suffers because they went multi platform.

But we will see once the reviews come out.

In the first one (which was over about ten years) the story was being told in flashback as your guy was being interviewed by a cop.  So you'd play a few missions about how he ended up becoming a gangster or whatever, then skip forward in time to the next notable series of events and play a few more missions etc.

At the time it was pretty impressive for a game to try something like that.  I guess they'll use a similar method this time around.

what annoys me about these videos is that they speak of the game's details as something NEW or INNOVATIVE... everything they described and detailed exists in ummm A MILLION OTHER OPEN WORLD GAMES?

im not saying the game sucks or is gonna be boring, but DONT TALK LIKE THAT SHIT IS SOMETHING NEW THAT ONLY YOUR GAME HAS !! every other fucking open world game has weather changing, detailed textures, tons of radio tracks, etc....

I usually don't enjoy sandbox games.  For example, I found both Grand Theft Auto IV, and Crackdown to be both incredibly frustrating.

But, this game intrigues me, because you get to live the life of a mobster.  Let's just hope third time's a charm, for me this time.

Always love seeing videos like this, as someone who's getting into the industry soon and works on the art aspects for games I like to see these behind the scenes for games.

This looks beautiful.
Also, the transition to the 50's is a nice touch, I can imagine how smoothly it will convey a feeling of progression.
Alsoplustoo, there *has* to be a combat tutorial taking place in WWII, right?

There better be some Jazz Bebop on the radio! I know the 50's were the rock 'n' roll era but they also saw the rise of Bebop! Don't forget Thelonious Monk! :P

The first Mafia is nothing like Crackdown. Even if it's technically a sandbox game it's more story focused than most of them.

I loved the first game (and the Hidden & Dangerous games) but I'm not feeling the hype for this game. Maybe it's because I see GTAIV as the spiritual successor to Mafia, maybe I'm tainted but the meh-feeling the giantbomb crew. Not sure why but I hope I'm wrong and this will be a great game.

01:45 "[...] The snow sliding off the cars when you accelerate".
They bring this up as a high-light of the game and it's attention to detail. But, excuse me, am I the only one who  thinks it looks horrible!? It just disappears, melts away super quick-like... And I know snow. It does not look like that.... Just made me sour on the whole idea of the game! ;)

Not really... I loved the first game, so I will probably pick this up.

I hope the stuff in the demo that's out does not at  all represent what's going to be in the final product.
I had high hopes for this one but I think I will hold out and read/view some reviews on it before a decision because of the the stuff I've experienced in the demo.

One of them are that pedestrians doesn't react when you are aiming straight into their faces (except for shop owners & cops). And no shooting while driving, no smart cops, no swimming, and no jumping except for some obstacles.
Somehow I feel that I've been spoiled by playing GTA IV and I thought that Mafia II was going to feel even more alive than that one.

Hope I'm completely wrong otherwise I think this game will flopp.:/
