Tip: start here or with Blood Money. The classic Hitman games that people wax nostalgia about (1, 2) are pretty old and it will be tough to get used to them mechanically at this point.

One modification I would like to see to the "editor" would be removing or lessening the requirements. I get that the editor is made the way it is, and it also ensures that every contract is possible to complete, but it would be nice if the playthrough "unlocked" the requirements that were performed, but could also be removed (removing requirement to the disguise/weapon/detection etc).

I've loved all the past Hitman games. The Contracts Mode looks really interesting, especially that awesome Contracts "Play-to-Build" mode.

It's been a while since I've played Blood Money, but this feels so different compared to its predecessors. I don't know if it's just this particular game play, but it seems to rely on sneaking around with cover based system much more than disguises. Also disguises that isn't really disguises and require a timed skill to blend? I mean it kinda makes sense but feels like a whole different mechanic.

And then Eagle Vision a la Assassin's Creed? Is the big reveal at the end game going to tell us 47 is a clone of Altair's descendant? Also what the hell are the AI's doing? They're less of an obstacle and more of a spectacle, a scenery to decorate the kill. The areas shown also feels rather linear and uninteresting as opposed to the open, various routes offered from the previous games.

Contract mode looks interesting, but everything else seems boring and disengaging. I hope there's more to the game than what I see.

I completely agree with you. I can't help but think that dishonoured is not getting the recognition it deserves. It's a completely new ip, it's a genre that's one of the most intelligent and promising (The deus ex first person thinker genre) and it's aesthetically unique to boot. You rarely get ONE of these things.

I am also looking forward to farcry 3 since the eurogamer panel. All the trailers made it feel like a shallow husk of a game, targed at the shallow shooter fan. However that presentation made that game feel more like an elder scrolls game with a first person shooter tacked on, rather than the inverse.

I'm rambling. Honestly I am looking forward to most of these games. Dishonoured just seems like the shining star.

We need to embrace new when we see it.

Watching someone else play the game is obviously different than playing yourself, give the game a chance. They're probably playing the game on Easy difficulty and breezing through, that would explain your feeling of boredom and disengagement. The beauty of "Hitman" games are the options, and I see plenty of those.

Linearity has always been there and this game looks more open to me (except Contracts mode).

Locations... Check

Weapons... Check

Target/s... Check

Looks like a Hitman game to me, except I have not seen any game play videos where they switched to 1st Person camera. I'm assuming It doesn't exist in Absolution.

Now , how you get to your target and how you subdue or kill his subordinates along the way is all on you. 100's if not 1000's of possibilities

I Threw up in my mouth a little bit when I saw you mentioned AssAssin's "Boring and Repetitive" Creed in a Hitman post...

I am never going to stop playing this game.

Only thing that worries me is 47 no longer seems to pull weapons out of his giant blazer pocket. Little asthetic touch I'm hoping just isnt in early builds, but 47 getting his weapons MGS style out of thin air isnt as cool as his bad ass manner of withdrawing a pistol and headshotting some chump.

Still, only minor gripe of a series I've been waiting to see return for so god damn long!

I love seeing people pop a vein whenever there's new Hitman footage.

"IT'S NOT THE OLD GAMES WHAT THE FUCK!" - when in fact most of them have obviously not played the old games, and to a large extent, not really gotten what was going on.

@das9000: Right, sometimes I like owning things though. I'm a good little consumer and I definitely have that drive to have my Steam list reflect the games I approve of even if I've not played some of them since buying them :) I can't remember if I've downloaded Contracts in the past, I've played it on whatever console it released on though (xbox or 360? time decays memories). If I could own it on PC though, that would be super rad.

The bummer to most of the older Hitman games is they are terrible on PC, they don't support things like RESOLUTIONS and what not. I've devoted hours upon hours trying to just get the games to support widescreen, and what little info and tools did exist 5-6 years ago are long dead now, makes me wish I could code cause I'd fuckin' rip into those old games and get them properly supported for modern resolutions and aspect ratios.

With Dishonored and Hitman Absolution coming out this year, I REALLY hope Assassin's Creed 3 isn't the best selling of this year's assassin games. It is, by far, the most boring and least ambitious looking one of the three. Dishonored has such a great, original world, cool style and all those powers. Hitman is far more robust, looks better and has this creative 'Contracts' mode that will yield a ton of replayability. AC3 is just more AC, of which there are already like 17... but set in the stupid, bland era of American colonization. *yawn*

Come on gamers. Make the right choice this holiday season. Don't just buy your 4th or 5th Assassin's Creed game.

Hoping IO Interactive can make a good game again. That stupid "Kane & Lynch" franchise, that no one ever wanted or liked, nearly ruined their reputation. Mini Ninjas was fun though, and now Hitman Absolution looks good. Crossing my fingers.

For a long time Contracts didn't have a digital version that was being sold, it's no where to be found. Recently I could have sworn I saw that it was finally available from greenman or GoG... but looking around I still don't see it. Do you know maybe where it's being sold again? Or anyone else? It's a great entry in the franchise and it sucks it doesn't exist on the PC in digital download form.

That was an awesome trailer.

The contracts mode looks like a virtual sandbox in that you have many ways to kill your contracts, and it lets you choose how you want to do it.

I think that's really cool.

Sig does make 1911 pistols but 47 uses the no longer in production AMT hardballers. The quality of the hardballers in real life is actually pretty poor, especially compared to modern equivalents like Kimbers, Colts, Ed Browns etc.

First few contracts and many others will just be to simple and glitched to get the inevitable achievement/trophy maybe a few people will actually try and make a real contract that works.

@clank543: The 2nd contract takes place in the latter half of the first level which was the subject of the orignal reveal. Seems like in contracts mode it splits the levels into segments. They've only shown off two other levels (King of Chinatown and Streets of Hope)

They are showing A LOT of this game. What is this now, 4 levels? I haven't watched any other than the 50's town walkthrough posted a little while back. I like the transparency, but they might want to hold a little back.
