2nd, I was not sure they were brutes with all the armor on.

Funny you mentioned their hammer and not the guerrillas themselves.  Anyways, Reach is only a couple days before CE, which is like a week before Halo 2, which Halo 3 immediately follows (at least I think it's something close to that).  It's not this is years ahead of everything else.
