one of the worst trailers I've seen in a while

Posted by Christoffer

Is that Henry Hatsworth?

Posted by Joey2683

I hope it's good despite most MMO's failing. Go horse armor.

Can we ride metal dragons!? I AM IN!!!

Edited by Buttonbasher

@Pazy: "Defiantly Interesing". Fantastic.

@Akyho: They've said no dragons.

Welp. That was some nice music.

I am not so sure, I have always loved being the only hero in the Elder Scrolls games. Plus I am kinda done on mmo's, I don't have the spare time needed to do well in them.

Posted by Duxa

Thing that makes Elder Scrolls great is the persistence of the world... taking over someone's home and making it your own. Wondering over the hill and finding that guy's body that you killed 100 hours ago...

None of that will be in this.. and without that... this is just a re-skinned LOTRO, using the SWTOR engine.. which doesnt look that great.

Stop eating each other.

I don't even know

Edited by Tennmuerti

Well that was ... underwhelming, lame, uninspiring, uninformative? So many words to choose from.

This isn't your Skyrim teaser trailer when everyone came in their pants that's for sure.

Especially after all the generic MMO details leaked.

Posted by Damolition

Looking forward to some serious Dark Brotherhood RP.

Posted by GioVANNI

There were some leaked scans on reddit of the Game Informer preview, and it essentially looked like WoW in Tamriel. Hot-key based not action-based, third-person not first-person. A large part of the preview was spent explaining why the core tenants of TES wouldn't work in an MMO, and then giving bullshit excuses.

I still haven't played Skyrim...

Well, it's not a trailer, it's a teaser. BIG difference.

And is your user icon from some visual novel or am I wrong? Could've sworn I've seen it before and I THINK it was also in the context of an user icon.

Edited by Pr1mus

I'm gonna pretend to be a wizard for a minute here and predict that this will be just another terribly generic fantasy MMO like every other released in the last couple years.

Any MMO that started conception during the peak of WoW's popularity has the same basic structure and just end up being boring.

Great if i'm wrong but this industry is so predictable this generation that i won't get my hopes up.

Not much of a trailer. At least they had some text in it so I would actually know what game it is for.

Sounded like the guy who played Dumbledore in the HP movies (3-8 of course) to me?

Bethesda, stop diverting resources into those projects, and start working on Fallout 4.

The world is full of MMOs with a generic fantasy setting. This is looking like more on the same...

Michael Gambon will not save this.

You should play Skyrim.

Why are you all being so negative? It's a teaser trailer. If you were expecting anything but an announcment then you're an idiot.

meh

Don't get too excited. The game is being developed by Zenimax Online with Bethesda only providing lore. Zenimax has already said this would be a WOW like MMO in terms of mechanics. A couple interesting things in there, but mostly it sounds pretty by the book, which is not what will capture what is fun about the Elder Scrolls series. I guess it might be pretty cool to see all of Tamriel in one place though.

This game is unnecessary in my opinion. If this was to be done right, it would have to be a very ambitious attempt at redefining the mmo genre in terms of crafting a living and breathing world instead of the standard dead and static world.

You should really play Skyrim.

Read some additional details over at Polygon. Apparently it is third-person and uses hotbar-activated skills. Already, it is shaping up to be extremely far removed from what makes the Elder Scrolls the Elder Scrolls. It's going to be really hard for them to sell me on a standard MMO.

Just so you know for future reference, a teaser is actually a form of trailer.

Posted by Zombie_Shakespeare

That was, as I expected, extremely uninformative. I wouldn't really call it a teaser. Or a trailer. It's just a thing.

Neat logo, though. Makes Alex's article title from yesterday seem kind of clever in retrospect.

Wait, are we talking about the Bethesda game or the Mojang game?

Posted by CountRockula

Couldn't care less about this game, but Bethesda sure does know how to get awesome-sounding old dudes to read stuff for them.

Posted by Beanburritos

Thanks bethesda

This made me want to rewatch Skyrim teaser.
 ...
Yep still so awesome it gives me the chills. Now that was an awesome fucking teaser trauler!

Probably not, but I bet he's enjoying the sweet paycheck he got for this.

Well I, for one, look forward to seeing how this pans out. I've always wished I could go questing through the Elder Scrolls universe with a party of my friends, so to me, this seems like a good fit. Here's hoping it turns out good!

Boring trailer indeed.

Edited by Viking_Funeral

Having seen the leaked scans, I can say that this looks and reads like TOR but in a generic fantasy setting. Third person perspective, hotkey bar for attacks, no player housing, class based leveling, the whole works.

For a moment, a moment, I was a little excited for this. That was when I thought it would be like the other ES games, but with multiplayer and all the rest. Now I think it will be a disappointment at best.

Ehh.. if you're really bored you could play Skyrim, I guess.

You should really play Saints Row the Third.

The logo reminds me of this.

Three factions, Dragon Hawk and Lion. Wonder what they mean. (At least I think its a hawk).

Anyway, fuck this game. Last thing Elder Scrolls needed.

Posted by JCGamer

Will see if this ever comes to consoles--the thing about MMO's is that they are mostly PC, interesting considering how their recent success has been at home.

Posted by BigChickenDinner

I love it when the forum talks about stuff before they post it :)

Posted by vince_kupo

Just give me a single player skyrim/Elder Scroll with the ability to play co-op with my friends

Posted by AiurFlux

I hear Michael Gambon. I am immediately interested in this.

@MoleyUK: I'd like clarification on something else: Are you actually trying to be helpful or just an asshole?

Posted by Zor

Meh... I liked Skyrim (even though i played it on the PS3, before all the patching) but this trailer/teaser/whatever was horrible. With so many MMOs out there, this video doesn't help them make their case for why people should care about it.

Definitely what they were aiming for but they missed that mark by a mile. Similar music. Similar narration but nowhere near as impactful. Lighting doesn't strike twice.

This trailer is likely only out now as damage limitation due to the leak.
