Here's a Look at NBA 2K14's New 'Eco-Motion' Engine

2K have NBA locked down but i do not understand NBA Live 14 only releasing on next gen how are they going to make money on it?

They probably won't. They are probably trying to focus on one thing and have a 2-3 year plan to get some serious market share. We'll see. Stranger things have happened... Like EA falling to ship a NBA game two years in a row.

@zaccheus@jimmyfenix and if that first trailer for Live 14 was any indication, they've probably got a loooong way to go to catch up with 2K.

@jimmyfenix: From what I understand, they're using Live 14 as a foundation to build upon with the entries that come after it. BounceTek is the feature that they're pushing this year, but it's only a small piece to the puzzle. Realistically speaking, I don't see them putting out their "complete" game until 2014/2015.

Anyways, this looks really good. Reminds me a bit too much of the "sweat everywhere" period of the current gen launch, but overall looks really impressive. Kobe still looks a bit...off though.

I don't even like basketball and I wanna get this game because I think the graphics look incredible. Excited to see if it actually turns out that good when it comes out.

Overall rating is meaningless. Dirk has always lit it up in 2K because he's 7 feet tall and has great shooting stats.

Comparing the video footage in this NBA 2K14 clip to the trailer released of EA's NBA'14, the 2K version player models look infinitely better I think. If EA really is serious about trying to muscle-in on 2K's NBA game then I think EA might very seriously struggle. I also think EA are really not helping themselves by not showing any more footage almost right-up to release day, they should have shown a regular drip of footage over the past month in order to build-up some excitement for it...unless they know its sub-par and are embarrassed about their game of course. ;)

This should have been 5 minutes of how great next generation sweat looks.

Man, does this game look freakin incredible.

Wow! That bit showing the ball bounce back into the hand close up... that's the best graphics in a sports game I've ever seen. The foot planting looks better than EA's version too...

Benchball is more my scene.

The idea is that Live 14 is just the foundation for later years. They are aware it isn't the full package but they are striving to get there. Having competition in the video game basketball arena is a good thing. Hopefully EA won't pull the plug on Live after next year.

James Harden growing that beard was the smartest thing any NBA player has ever done. Now every trailer for both NBA games has a million "check out our James Harden beard technology!" shots. Pretty soon James Harden will be a household name. James Harden.

Also I love how lost and bewildered virtual Dwight Howard looks. Truly NBA2k14 is accurate in every detail.

After watching tonight's clusterfuck Lakers-Rockets game, I can no longer support James Harden and his ugly, UGLY brand of basketball.

NBA 2k14 has taken the number one spot on my launch day purchase list. It looks THAT good.

Is there a manager mode where I can throw hundreds of millions of dollars at players to make a slightly better team?
