Here's That Mad Max Game Avalanche is Working On

Wow did they specifically tell someone to rip off Jose Gonzalez's cover of "Teardrop?" Because actually it occasionally makes this a cool trailer, but I thought it was Jose Gonzalez at first and thought it should have been that, because it's an amazing cover.

yeah, music set the tone completely wrong. that was not music that belongs anywhere near mad max. the american narrator made things even worse.

I liked Mad Max for NES.

At least, I did when I was younger and more impressionable. I should give it a try, see if it holds up to what I remember.

I don't know where I stand on this. Set in North America with American cars/characters sounds like a poor choice, but they DID put the Last of The V8 Interceptors in the game.....

Next-Gen Rage, basically. But I don't understand the lack of setting the game down under? Its like setting The Matrix real world in the Matrix, and The Matrix virtual world in Zion.

Yeah, everyone says Mad Max, but they really mean The Road Warrior. That's the world that everyone remembers. Mad Max was barely Mad Max, it was Disgruntled Dave. I was thrown off by how much it wasn't what I was expecting. The Road Warrior really nailed the post apocalyptic feel, before Beyond Thunderdome went and cartoonified it. As for the american narrator, I thought I heard her slip into some sort of an accent for a line, and I never thought that Mel's accent was all the thick(maybe moreso in Mad Max, but in the other 2, he had lost his accent).

There are different dubs for the movie. For some incredibly ridiculous and dumb reason, the originally Australian English movie was dubbed to American English in the US. The DVD's and Bluray's I've seen generally have the original Australian theatrical track available as an alternate stereo audio track, while the DTS/5.1/whatever track is that dumb American audio track.

Also: I actually played MagMax; it was that side-scrolling shooter game where you fly around and collect parts to become a giant mech that walks through the air awkwardly. It's probably not hard to make a game better than MagMax.

During the E3 interview with Gamespot they said someone steals the Interceptor from you (presumably at the beginning of or very early in the game) and that's part of the storyline. They also talked about how they didn't want us to have the movie car because they wanted vehicle customization to be a big part of the game.

Just to add, I've seen both mad Max and Mad Max the Road Warrior. Mad Max was one of those rough diamond type movies. But there is 2 movies now I guess I liked Mel Gibson in. He also does a movie where he is disfigured I think..I would probably not like it but I would not hate it.

I guess I appreciate the Blind Willie Johnson cover, but I don't know if that version really that trailer or that game. Lyrically maybe but not musically. I was hoping for something more like red dead for this game, but this trailer made it look like more of a straight forward action piece.

Really, the impression I get from this trailer is "I need to see more of this game because this trailer didn't show me much." Does anyone know if this will be open world? I mean I kind of assume it would be because it feels like that would be crucial.

I'm hoping to see Renegade Ops meets Just Cause 2 in the "real" gameplay reveal. Only then will I be happy.... well.... I fucking love Avalanche Studio's past games and have supported them from the start... so who am I kidding?!... I'll buy anything they make

I am one of those people who get pissed at others for judging games way to early, but I can see where this is going. Decent 3rd person shooter, nothing more, nothing less.

Wait... so are they trying to make this fit into the continuity of the movies, or just going off on a tangent? How can the Interceptor be stolen if it was blown up in the Road Warrior? Unless this takes place between the first and second movies. Also where is Dog?

Oh, there was also Outlander for SNES and genesis. BUT ITS TOTALLY NOT MAD MAX OKAY??? Also it was weird how the snes and genesis versions were way different.
