@reisz: I read exactly what you comment wrote, you even repeated the very same notion again in that comment, yet i still heavily disagree.

The only "more mobility" that actually is there, being the double jump, but without Titans (these actually require the player mobility so players can stay competitive when Titans are in the field) that's a very far cry away from the movement systems present in Titanfall.

Wallrunning is not just an gimmick in Titanfall, it plays into the overall design of the game as wallrunning keeps increasing player speeds, it`s a skill based movement mechanic. Without these features having a meaningful impact on the games gameplay, they might as well have added dinosaurs to the game, it would have been equally meaningless to the gameplay and only serve to check off the "me too!" boxes.

Not everything that has jetpacks is automatically "the same thing as Titanfall", if you reduce games down to mere bullet points on the back of the box, this might be an somewhat viable approach, it's still heavily flawed. Because good games are more than a mere collection of features for the sake of "keeping up with the competition", they deliver an coherent vision where the single parts fit into each other like puzzle pieces.

A good game takes the features it needs/wants and puts them together in an coherent way that actually makes sense, leaving those out that don't fit the creative vision of the game. In this regard Advanced Warfare is showing nothing like that, Valve might as well add Jetpacks to Counter Strike:Go, that would have equally as little meaningful impact on gameplay as it seems to have in Advanced Warfare.

I'm also really perplexed how you are able to get any information at all regarding balance from this trailer, what? Really? For all we know this looks unbalanced as shit, considering all the crap they are throwing in there and over the top kill-streaks. Protip: Adding more stuff to a game does not make it easier to balance, quite the contrary.

Unbalanced and flat out broken killstreaks have been the bane of quite a few CoD releases in the past. Titanfall opted to leave out a big variety of gadgets/weapons, in favor of properly balancing the few it has. There is no "best for everything" gun in Titanfall, while most CoD's boil down to Carbine/AR spam fests with the odd Shotgun/SMG rusher in between.

Sorry, but making such notions based on a trailer, showing off tons of unfocused stuff, just makes it all the more obvious that some people don't know what they are talking about when they talk about "balance". Balanced is what does not kill you? How do you define "balance" in that context?

I guess i now figured out what makes modern Call of Duty unique: It's lack of actual uniqueness!

They are simply throwing in whatever they can find, in the hope their outdated formula still comes across as something "new" and keeps on selling.

But sticking a couple of Christmas glitter balls into a turd still won't turn that turd into a Christmas tree, only into a turd with a lot of glitter on it ;)

Is it just me or do the graphics not seem as impressive as you would expect from this iteration. I dont know If i'm just jaded by all these gorgeous games coming out lately, but this and the last CoD have just looked a little vanilla or bland to me.

If they're going to copy Titanfall this much, I hope they don't forget to copy Titanfall's best feature: dedicated servers powered by Windows Azure.

CoD stopped being fun for me after Black Ops 1 but man, they know how to make a good trailer.

Definitely looks better than ghosts. It has a much brighter, much more colorful palette than the dreary brown/grey of ghosts. I'd say even more so than Black Ops 2. One of my main problems with Ghosts is that the customization seems pointless, here's hoping they can fix that.

And the Crossbow is back! Woot!

"looks like titanfall but better" How about you actually play this instead of basing the entire argument around 3 minutes of gameplay

@nethlem: you're an odd one.

I don't agree with your sentiments and still think you missed my point. "Similar approach" is what I wrote and it's what I think. I also think this looks more exciting than Titanfall. But please tell me again how much you disagree with my opinion.

@reisz: Sorry if I'm coming across as odd, it's probably my aspergers :/

I just fail to see any of the things you are supposedly seeing in this trailer, maybe that's because i don't buy and play every single CoD release?

But this clearly suffers from the "Looks different, but not really that different" disease, that plagued previous CoD's. They added enough to make it at least "somewhat look" different, while at the still time still not taking a risk with the "CoD is supposed to be this!" people.

Imho that's an half arsed approach and the last thing this franchise needs, it needs to reinvent itself in a meaningful way. Instead every CoD release feels like weapon modification gone wrong: Cluttered up with extra features and supposedly "new things", that all end up changing actually very little about the game.

This might be a-okay for a younger audience, that only knows CoD since Modern Warfare, but for people somewhat passionate about the FPS genre, this just ends up being very underwhelming. Only a few franchises have as much money behind them as CoD, but instead of using that money and fan-base for doing something unique and fresh, they are essentially using 10% for shuffling around features and 90% for marketing these features as something "awesomely new!"

There used to be a time when it had been common sense to criticize Activation and it's annual CoD releases, which changed very little about the game. Guess people have already become apathetic about that too?

Obviously they're doing something right if people keep buying the games. Yeah, it's the same ol' formula, but it's still fun to play for a few weeks with some friends, so I've got no issues there.
