We're in the year 2012, and have an entire genre of games where the boss mechanics can't get past "don't stand in the fire." And people call me cynical.

What really bothers me though happens around 30:45-30:50 when homeboy says "the dungeon team wanted to give the player the feeling they were fighting something beyond them...something that was out of their control" blahblahblah. IS. HE. SERIOUS?!?! It looks like every other fucking fight you see in an MMO! I'm sorry, but damn, it just looks boring...

This game man, so much wasted potential. When I first saw that trailer with the demon thing in the mirror it looked like game of the forever material and then I found out it's an MMO and all of that faded away...

I like that this isn't another generic fantasy world and I like the Guild Wars 1 style skills where you are limited to a small set of abilities at any given time and have to think about how those abilities will complement one another but, I just don't know if this will be any good.

Looks really interesting and has some neat ideas but the subscription model is a big ol' gate no one wants to scale anymore. It will be GW2 for me.

This looks alright from a aesthetic point of view, and the way you build skills sounds interesting, but from a straight game play point of view it doesn't look that fun, at least not from this trailer.
 
I like that your character can wear whatever the fuck they want though. More games should do that.

Seemed like the "classes" were just there to give people some type of structure. Nothing suggests you can't put together whatever random powers you want, other than min/maxing.

This is the sort of structure I like. I know there are some ridiculously autistic mathematicians out there, who are all about min/maxing and getting the best loot, but I like to dick around and come up with my own characters and stories.... Like in those superhero MMOs

Who said anything about launch? I knew AO's launch was horrible but, look at it now. Also, when I hear "500 powers" I'm not thinking about Conan. I'm not quite sure what you mean by succeeding "in spite of Funcom"

This just feels like a regular ass mmorpg with spin off classes, nothing new here. Even though you can choose your class and 500 skills, I'm sure these are just developement skills for your classes.

There are no new mechanics, same old MMORPG.

If it's not free to play, I am not interested.

Straight up, I have gotten used to the idea that MMOs are all free to play, and you pay for what you want, and until an MMO adopts this idea I'm just not into what they are selling.

If this game is released for $60 in a box, it will FAIL. Guaranteed.

Why, check out the first ~30 minutes of the game!

I dunno about you guys, but I love being treated like a retard by having big giant quest objective text in the first few seconds. And don't even get me started on how much I enjoy hamfisted cunnilingus in my MMORPGs!

Who needs thematic or narrative consistency when you have lots of abilities. I mean, c'mon. There's 500 of them. I'm sure they won't be broken down into broad categories like Guns [Type X - Type N], Magic [Type X - Type N], Melee Weapons [Type X - Type N] and a bunch of +1% passives.

I mean what are the chances of that, right? R..right?

@WinterSnowblind: I would have to agree with you, as I am waiting for both D3 and GW2.... My hands will be devoted elsewhere. TSW looks amazing, but with so many games coming out that are F2P I'd much rather play those titles.

It seems like this idea could go so much further with less overhead in a single player game. I'm thinking about why it would have gone MMO... and I do know some people who only play MMOs. Is this population of people who hop from one MMO to another a more reliable source of revenue than the population for single games, because not enough MMOs come out to compete for their fickle attentions?
