If Your Fancy TVii Software Doesn't Support Roseanne, What's the Point?

So basically they want the wii u to be a universal remote with some cool extras, like the drawing thing or being able to play games on it?

That's actually a fucking cool idea. Not extremely well executed yet, but still, impressive. As someone in need of a universal remote I'd be tempted to hold off on buying an expensive one and use the Wii U when I get it, if it improves a bit between now and then, anyway.

This would have been really cool if I still cared to watch TV.

Now it makes sense why you can watch on-demand content on the GamePad, but not live content: The WiiU doesn't play any live content, it just tells your TV where to go. It's pretty cool that they provide an easy interface to to configure your remote and figure out what your local cable listings (including only the channels you get). That's better than some satellite providers (last time I used StarChoice and Rogers the guide included channels you don't get).

I'm guessing the DVR features will be just to control your DVR.
