It's a Guitar Hero 5 Rockfest

Meh.

This is looking more and more like how the Tony Hawk-games turned out.
In the beginning it was mostly about skating and doing tricks (or in this case; playing guitar and doing it well). Nowadays they're adding gimmick-stuff, just to try and keep the games fresh, when they really should just add good music, instead of the generic brainwashed-radio-pop the last few games have contained.

In all honesty though, if this game hits stores heres soon, I might actually buy it. But only because for some reason they didn't ship any of the Rock Band games over here so far.
 
It doesn't look so bad, and the instruments are probably gonna be better than the current Rock Band instruments, so MAYBE?

I think I can live without GH now that Rockband exists.

I don';t intend  to buy GH5 (I'm a rock Band guy) But i've got to say, this sounds like a good idea, as the competitive offerings are a tad slim at the moment.

These gameplay concepts all kind of bleed together.  They all amount to "don't miss any notes."
 
They picked good songs for each mode for this video.  Although, I imagine this will work like Halo maps: you can play any song in any mode, but not every song is great for every mode.

Gimmicky as hell, and it doesn't change the fact that the best player will always win.  If anything, it makes the weaker player more likely to lose faster.  The only way that strong and weak player can both have any fun playing GH is to play co-op.  For competition, pro face-off is all you need.

I don't want new band modes for competitive play, I want a no fail mode like Rock Band 2.  How many people does Neversoft think play Guitar Hero for hardcore competition?  Do they think it outweighs the number of people who play it drunk at a party?  I still haven't heard whether or not they're going to admit that this was a good idea in Rock Band and that they should include their own copyright-free version in the coming games.
 
Even if it did have this feature, though, I still wouldn't buy this particular title.  The song list is holding me back.  I haven't heard of half of the artists on this disc, and I'm not going to shell out £45 for that.  I know Neversoft are just trying to please as many different people as possible, and maybe the songs I haven't heard of are just as good, if not better, than the ones I do know - but I'm not going to spend that much money to find out.

All those notes give me a head ache
