Staying up all night again for this one!

Posted by Village_Guy

Yes! I'm currently playing the HD Collection for the first time, and I haven't seen much of the first game, so this is exciting still!

Posted by TechnoSyndrome

Literally stayed up until 3AM just to watch this. (Okay, there were other reasons, but still! METAL GEAR HYPE!)

"You're pretty good."

Edit: Which he doesn't say in this vid. I didn't know that that could happen if you lost too many times.

Nothing like the feeling of sliding a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber!

Best feature? Best Feature.

Add me to the list of people who changed their sleeping pattern to watch this!

(Although for me, it was sleeping early, so I could wake up for it!)

Posted by skurk

It's 12PM, it's Friday, and I am watching this instead of working. GO TEAM!

Posted by AlienSexMachine

Its definitely going to be worth it when i lose my job from oversleeping staying up watching these.

Looks like I picked a great time to become a premium member with all the great new features:)

I came into this thread to post that comment

Ah, a new one already! You guys are spoiling us now.

Just what I'd expect from the man with the same codename as the boss.

Seriously though, that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the video image.

I'm intoxicated whats your'e excuse

Gonna see this the moment I get home. In the meantime, here's the actor that Hideo said Ocelot is inspired from:

Lee Van Cleef

Maybe best known from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Although, he's also in Escape From New York, the movie starring Kurt Russel as Snake Plisskin ;)

Edited by burgavo

YES, thank you GB

Edit: Not sure but Drew seems to be having trouble with the controls, you can switch movement to the analog stick if you want (atleast it workes on ps2 and since ps3 has the option to switch between digital and analog)

Also I think a bomb made with nuclear waste would be called a "dirty bomb"

Posted by SethPhotopoulos

I'm not gonna watch the video yet cause I gotta find out if there is anything wrong with the upload but if you hold square and x you can shoot/aim and run at the same time.

Soooo goooood

This is my favortie thing on the site at the moment.

Part 2 already? YES!!

Posted by kingschiebi

Deep MGS lore incoming ;)

Those elevator buttons refer to B1 and B2 (as in basement levels) - the first dash just looks similar to the 1

Posted by Kyodra

This is some of the best stuff on GB in a while. Drew and Dan are a great pairing for this, here's hoping this will continue as an unofficial endurance run of the whole series.

Posted by sub_o

Fucking A, this is a goddamn amazing premium feature.

I want to know if Snake managed to sweep Drew off his feet by the end of the game.

I don't remember this boss fight being that hard. It's taking Drew quite a long time to get used to those controls! I remember thinking it looked so amazing when he spun his gun and now all these years later seeing it is still awesome but a lot funnier. It looks like he has it attached to his hand or something.

This may well turn out to be my favourite thing GB has ever done.

It's very sweet of you guys to release videos for me to watch during my night shift.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocelot_(vehicle)

Drew probably already knows this, but there's a military vehicle used by the UK called Foxhound.

Just a fun little tidbit.

Posted by derry2010

Haha, I can't believe how many people are still up this late. I thought it would be a ghost town.

This is great content. Good work Dan & Drew.

Posted by sub_o

@drewbert Two tips, first, you could run and aim / shoot by holding square button, then X button. Second, the ammo box will spawn when you collected everything in the boss stage.

Posted by LaserJesus

This is the most tense I've ever been watching a Giant Bomb video

Posted by makkuwata

Drew's almost as good at Metal Gear as Dan is at WoW!

Posted by Castiel

This makes me want to go back and replay MGS again and then play 2,3 and 4 which I have never played before. Strangely enough I have always loved the first MGS but I never got around to playing the sequels. At some point I just found it too intimidating because I was so far behind.

Posted by MooseyMcMan

I am still incredibly excited for this feature! So much so that I felt the need to comment before I even watched it! METAL GEAR!

Posted by Soviet666

This is a cool feature, since I've never played Metal Gear Solid either :P

Posted by LarryDavis

I LOVE to reload!

Posted by hamchan

I think it's fine to give tips when Drew gets real stuck in a boss fight like in this ep.

Yeah, it's not the easiest, but it isn't as difficult as they make it seem. The C4 was a great idea I didn't think of back in the day but I kind of love the irony of them commenting on Ocelot (an AI back in 1998) not being able to adapt to the C4 while they couldn't pick up on the fact that if you get close to him while he reloads, he will run away from you - just shoot him from afar...

All in all, great episode and awesome perseverence by Drew! I just hope he doesn't get too frustrated with this to stop enjoying the game!

Posted by Quarters

Only halfway through this part, but man, I REALLY hope that Dan eventually remembers that you can shoot and run by holding down X while you're aiming. It's really integral to this fight, and THAT part later on. Yikes, have no idea how that one will go.

Posted by Teoball

It's a lot easier to beat Ocelot if you don't get too close to him. When he's reloading he always stops, but runs away if you get too close.

I'm loving this feature.

Did Drew remember to save?

Posted by GunstarRed

I love slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber.

Posted by vorpalparasite

Great episode! I want to say that fight goes a lot faster if you don't chase Ocelot while he's got ammo, and of course approach him cautiously when he's spent.

They still should've played Twin Snakes, even if it were just for the graphics, psone games are so hard to look at. And the controls would be better.

I may be wrong but I believe there are some minor changes to easter eggs and such in twin snakes. Plus I doubt they have a gamecube hooked up

Drew at games.
