I am so done with red dot sights and all military shooters in general. Too many over the last decade. Not into this at all.

I know it's really nit picky to point it out, but all the focus on third person camera views showed that anyone using a vertical fore-grip on their rifle in not holding it by such in any of the third person animations, yet we see they do hold it in first person.  Could be just an issue with the build, but I could've sworn that was not a problem with previous CoD games

Call me crazy, but does anyone kinda miss the simpler multiplayer of the original CoD?  I sure do anyway :\

Looks... sort of bad. Either that was a bad trailer or it just looks bad. Engine looks really dated to.

Not the greatest media strategic trailer from Activision, especially when compared to what DICE have been showing of Battlefield 3.

@mthe1337one: I certainly do, but not only the simplicity of older CoD games, but the simplicity of older online shooters in general. Back in the day you had complete knowledge of what your enemy could throw at you and all you had to do was keep that in mind and be ready to respond. This days there is just SO MUCH STUFF that my brain can't compute it anymore. We've got 10 typos of grenades, sentry guns, airstrikes, helicopters, mines, throwing knives, energy shields, cammos. I honestly have troubles comprehending everything, and when playing, say, Resistance 3 Beta most of the time I have no idea what killed me.

I'm amused by the number of people disgruntled at the apparent lack of innovation.
I agree that the engine is beginning to show its age, and that the game looks much less impressive than Battlefield 3, but you must keep in mind that it pushes twice the framerate of Frostbite 2.
As for the gameplay, many people expected Modern Warfare 2 to play exactly like Modern Warfare and belittled it before launch, much as is happening with MW3. Yet when it arrived it contained enough variation on the proven system that those people fell in love again.
And a few people have made comments about the lack of destructible environments in MW3. That's simply silly. Battlefield is offered as a large, evolving battleground with the tools available to alter the cover drastically. The Modern Warfare series is marketed as a small-unit, swift tactic war zone. To expect either to offer the other's system is like expecting a red dot sight in Halo.

And I think that people - on both sides of the MW3/Battlefield 3 debate - who feel the need to talk down to their less-favored game and its fans are too insecure about the quality of their chosen side. Buy and enjoy one or both of them, and let everybody else do the same.

Isn't that truck that appears twice also in an MW2 map?

[Edit no its not I'm going insane] You're definitely right though, that's in MW2. Also, the marketplace on the same map the truck is on looks like its ripped straight outta District from MW1 (same watermelons as always!)

And the best bit? All the animations are THE SAME STILL. Like, the first death animation you see has been in every COD game ever, and the falling damage animation is the same, the glass breaks the same, you get flashed the same. Have they actually even done anything to this game?

I am seriously looking forward to this. I still have my doubts, since another dev was apparently brought on to work multiplayer since IW's explosion, but MW2 on PC was one of my most played games, and news that dedicated servers are back and this trailer have really made me pretty optimistic.

They seemed to have accurately captured the FPS multiplayer experience in that 3/4 spawns end with the same douchebag sniper shooting you from across the map.

Also, is it just me or did someone's music team watch Inception?

Insecure?

People have to be insecure to note that one is of better quality than the other? People can like what they want. When it comes to quality.. ....BF franchise stomps. I love Mass Effect, so do a lot of people. Still most of us (the non fanboys ofcourse) understand that it is a casual streamlined RPG.  There is no being insecure about it. Thats like calling people who claim Mario is the superior platformer to Sonic insecure. It doesn't take insecurity to comprehend when a game is of lower quality than its contemporaries. MW2 was that game.

It looks fine, but I feel like there's too much "white space" where the video is literally doing nothing.

That being said, I hope that this time the motto of "tons of gadgets and shit" doesn't lead to another MW2 where the game was a cheap spam fest of OMA and the like.

Either way, it's not on my purchase list anyways, but I won't pretend MW3 won't be a huge, successful (,fun) game.

This doesn’t just look boring, it looks like a relic. Why would I want to choose this over Battlefield 3? It’s like comparing a child’s scribbles to the Mona Lisa.

This video confirms that if you run assault or specialist package, you will eventually get killed BUT if you go with specialist, you are invincible. I know what I'm picking, thanks for the insider info.

@Hellstrom: I completely agree with what you said. But what I said was that I think that the insecure people are the fans who actively seek out the other game and its fans simply to belittle them. I've no interest in Japanese RPGs, but rather than go to each new trailer and write about the horrible gameplay, I leave the games to the fans. Your comment about Mass Effect is exactly my point. There are too many people who refuse to let the would-be purchasers critique the game, and so complain about something that will never affect them.

Even while my love for CoD dwindled a few games back this is a poor and boring trailer. There is no excitement and overuse of slow-mo much.

So after all the complaining about shotgun secondaries and over use of noob tubes in MW2, they made it so you can have shotgun secondaries again, AND NOW THEY'RE IS A FUCKING LASER GUIDED STRAIGHT SHOOTING NOOB TUBE!!

Too much of a clusterfuck....There is no skill anymore, there is just too much variation between players and loadouts.

The game has turned into the price is right, any jackass can fuck you over and win.

Far too much going on and happening in this game, it doesn't look fun to me.

If someone had told me this was a trailer for a MW2 map pack I would have believed them. This franchise is getting more and more sad for each iteration since it gets more and more painfully obvious that there is no real innovation whatsoever involved in this. The core gameplay is the exact same thing as CoD4:MW (which I loved), only filled with much more nonsense such as akimbo and wildly overpowered kill streaks.

Remember the simplicity of COD 4? That was great, just enough stuff to not get boring but never too much nonsense that it became frustrating. More =/= better. Looking forward to go back so CS when CS:GO comes out.

I don't give a fuck. I am buying both BF3 and MW3 and so are most of my friends.

It's a win win.

The thing I enjoy most about playing COD online is hanging with my friends in our party chat and just generally having a blast. Joking around, giving each other shit, bitching about how much the game sucks, etc.

IIRC Hans Zimmer did the score for MW2 and Inception, and I assume he's doing MW3 as well.

It doesn't push twice the framerate for everybody as I will be playing BF3 on PC at 60 FPS.

What happened to premieres just showing gameplay instead of forcing in all these special effects and camera angles.

Still hate that they don't seemed to be putting nearly enough effort into the game knowing that it will still sell well.

Looking decidedly "last-gen" at this point. Not only that this video doesn't showcase any new innovations for the series, I'm sure there has to be at least a couple in the works but as far as I'm concerned this is just a video of a MW2 multiplayer match.

Too much slow-mo and the little first-person that they showed didn't look great. I'm sure it could be a decent evolution for franchise but the gameplay is just too stale at this point.

Forget that nothing's changed, has anyone noticed how heinous and goofy that title card is?

You can just smell the overconfident jerks in marketing high-fiving over that one.

"Man, WW3 totally would be MW3 if we flipped a W. What if we did that right in front of our customers? It would insult their intelligence and trivialize any future conflict under the name of World War 3."

The horde mode thing seems cool, but it's probably just zombie mode again.

The only noticeable difference about this game isn't even in the trailer:  COD once more has dedicated servers.

Not excited. COD4 blew me away, but I was skeptical of MW2 and rightfully so. I'm more interested about the legal battle between ex-Infinity Ward employees and Activision than this steaming pile. Tired of FPS games anyway, the market is over-saturated.
