Nintendo Has Some New Pokémon it Would Like to Show You

I just want them to make it easier to transfer from older games. The hoops you have to jump through is always a huge pain. The 3DS has an app ecosystem, some kind of transfer app would be appreciated.

Glad they finally made the jump, still not interested though.

Fucking awful. Why take out the strategy and turn it into an action game? You're completely missing the point of Pokemon if you think that's a good idea.

Also, just because the first 150 were the ones you grew up with, doesn't mean they're the best. Even if you've convinced yourself they are.

Ah shit now I have to buy a 3DS, my wallet is crying in the corner right now.

Just by giving you control over the Pokemon doesn't mean you have to take the strategy away. Especially if you include factors such as the environment you fight in. You might be thinking of some sort of beat em up but if it became more of a dragon age style game play where mana (or pp if you will), and movement come into play then that could be a lot of fun.

You'll have to point out where I said action game somewhere in my post. I don't want them to turn pokemon into god of war or batman or bayoneta. I don't even want them to stop making the game they're making right now for handhelds.

Now if you think tactical menu based combat is suited for a game on a console you're the crazy one. A pokemon game on a console would need flash, flare and excitment. Something action RPGs offer that menu based tactical combat does not. Besides you didn't play a whole lot of action RPGs if you think they can't be tactical or more about your intelligence than your reflexes.

Also, if they can include the 900ish pokemons I don't care, more power to them. Including at least the first 150 would be a good move since, yo, nostalgia=more sales.

So yeah, direct control over your pokemon as it does intense tactical combat in a huge arena agains gym bosses or batteling/capturing wild pokemons in a semi open world. Think about it... THINK ABOUT IT...

Remember, this is just me spitballing here. If nintendo has better plans I will be very happy to buy a WiiU to experience them. As long as they start thinking big instead of playing it safe with their limitless potential franchise.

@pyrodactyl: I do agree that the battles need more "flare". Standing infront of each, barely moving is a little silly. But that's something I think could be better remedied with better animation and more environmental issues. I don't see why they'd need to replace the turn based battle system in order to do that.

I can think of far too many RPG's have been completely ruined by switching to a real time battle system in an attempt to make things more fast paced and actiony.

@tallTuck94: They just need to make it more flashy, better looking more exciting and for the WiiU or other console. In short: they need to make anything but pokemon stadium 3.

Does this game let you import from the DS games? If so, I kind of want to go back, play through all of the old games and transfer them up,game by game and system by system, so I could bring my super badass Charizard from Blue into this game.

@Ronald: You can't get Pokemon from Blue into the GBA games. That's what they made Fire Red and Lead Green for.

I'm glad they finally got around to making a 3DS Pokemon game. Now I can actually use the wireless functionality! Stupid DS only supporting WEP.

I stopped caring about pokemon 10 yeas ago, and Zelda 5 years ago. Nintendo you need to do something to shake up some of your franchises. I get you're going for the younger audience so they won't realize you keep making the same games over and over again, but it sucks for the rest of us.

Squirtle is fucking awesome. Wartortle was always my favorite though.

My problems with new Pokemon are exemplified by the fact that the starters here are a Bidoof in grass-type cosplay, a transsexual Flareon, and the apparent result of a Swablu fucking Frogger. And I wish they would stop making legendaries so damn ubiquitous in the marketing.

The new perspective seems potentially neat, if they manage to accompany it with interesting mechanics.

... So Nintendo, do I give you money now or later?

Pokemon seriously needs an stylistic change.

Holy molly! I'm still a sucker for Pokemon and this is exactly what I wanted! Yeah they could do with some actual changes to the games, but changing the presentation of it so drastically for the first time in a long time is pretty huge! Also the starters I'd say look the best since possibly generation II.

@zoozilla: Pokemon X and Y, both things that are part of chromosomes in genetics. The Japanese logos even have the double helix embedded into them. Clearly this means that Gen VI's overall theme might be more into genetics.

Alternatively, XY(and Z) are the coordinates of the axis of a 3D plane, referencing the fact that the Pokemon games have jumped to 3D.

As such, X and Y's meaning is double fold.

Honestly, this looks incredible, i'm way on board.

Also, I imagine the X and Y is both a reference to DNA and also to the axis on a 3D plain, which means inevitably Pokemon Z is coming and we should probably just wait for that, but we won't.

@Leosol: Yes they can. There's no reason that out of the countless species they have used that they only have to stick to one representative of a typing. They can do whatever as long as they make the Pokemon's design different.
