Tried and true concept: if you want people to laugh at your jokes, have a pompous British man say them. 
 
Edit: since everyone loves to get mad at people like me who tend to have a snarky sense of humor, let me rephrase this sad attempt at a joke:  
 
If you want people to laugh at your jokes, have a British writer/actor/nobody say them in the most nonchalant way possible without coming off like an ass.
