PAX Prime 2014: The Giant Bomb Panel

I can't believe they got like 20 minutes out of that Firewatch bit.

John Drake's Russian accent is the worst accent of any sort I've ever heard in my life. It is even worse than Jeff's foreign accent that always turns Spanish.

I keep watching that sweet chin music over and over again.

I like Alex a great deal, but I could watch him get super kicked for minutes.

Anyone know who the GameBomb version of Patrick and Alex were? I recognize all of them except those two.

I had to pinch myself during the GameBomb.ru bit as i couldn't believe it was happening.

Was Will Smith the one couldn't keep his mustache on? Also who was "Patrucia Klepek"? I feel like i should know her.

Wish I was there...but also kind of glad I missed it since I could have wound up with free Infinity stuff if I hadn't.

Seems way bigger than the room the PAX East one was in.

Forgive me for stepping out of line, but I didn't enjoy this panel as much as the past ones. The Firewatch and GameBomb.ru bits felt very forced (though I did snicker at the notion of Iron Curtain Galaxy and a couple of other puns). The ending was pretty hysterical though.

(Also, this is no way Drew's fault, but the audio on this recording is terrible - due to the source, I presume.)

@daveyo520: The Panel i attended at Pax East(2013) was much bigger that this one. Think it was the Phoenix theater that year.

So other than Pope and Drake and Johnny V and Will Smith who were the others on the Game Bomb Panel and was that Alexa Ray who joined on the Alex beatdown?

After the way PAX East ended I was really hoping we'd have Cena's theme blasting over the PA after someone ran in to save Alex. Nicely done superkick.

After this, I think I could live with them just skipping the Q&A from now on. Maybe keep it to whatever sub-event they hold (like the Friday night thing).

Couldnt they mic up with their own mics and record audio with those, and then overlay that audio on the video and cut out the video audio so its better quality?

@jedted: Maybe it just seems bigger in the video. I guess at PAX East the room wasn't as wide but it went back farther.

I played the Russian Alex while Andrea Rene (GameTrailers, those videos that play in GameStop) played Russian Patrick.

Recent Bombcast guest and Indie dev Samantha Kalman was in on the Alex beatdown. She came in second in the PAX East Rumble but was no match for Team GFB at PAX Prime.

In the Q&A when Jeff starts talking about the limits of who video game journalism is for he shows a whole other level of honesty that leaves all the other panelists speechless for a long time. It's pretty amazing.

If Alex and Dan can sell a super-kick this well there should probably just be a Giant Bomb Underground event every couple months.... Oh wait that's called PAX

Oh man that ending! first I was like wow, Dan he really is such a classy fella . . . then BAM! it really shows why GiantBomb is the second best site on the internet after game bomb ru.

Gotta love how the Ninja Theory guy talks about the "kick-ass combat" in DmC, when it's public knowledge that they had to have dudes from Capcom come in and fix it for them because it was even worse than what was in the final game.

Great finish from 'Dirty' Dan!

Great show! I love seeing Jeff host these things. Not that much time for everyone else, but they played off of him very well and I had a good laugh. The Gamebomb.ru bit was very funny and on the nose as a parallel universe GB. And I had heard about the beatdown, but I didn't imagine it was that fun.

Those questions about "Fuck the trolls" and "GB is 95% men, are we representative of the people who care about games as a whole" were wonderful. Or rather, the answers were profound.

Thank you, I was a bit uncertain about who played all the parts. You meant Andrea Rene played Patrick though, right?

This was glorious, especially the Gamebomb part.

It reminds me of a certain South Africa football player Booth who was white. Everyone thought that they were booing him due to racial tension, but it turned out it was a fan favorite and the supporters honored him by doing a prolonged "BOOOOOOOOTH" whenever he had the ball.

That was fan f**king tastic!
