I can't imagine playing this without a wheel. The steering is way too twitchy.

I remember playing crazy taxi with the fishing rod from saga bass fishing.. now THAT was CRRAAAAAZY!!!

Posted by empfeix

as a dreamcast fanboy I must say -- jeff sucks at this game

Edited by Vorbis

This QL ruined my nostalgia for Crazy Taxi.

"I'll remember it for what it was, not for what it is".

edit: But any mention of PSO is always good.

No offspring, no sell.

Edited by DukeTogo

Wow, as much as Offspring became soul-crushing in the original, it feels wrong without it.  No more KFC, Pizza Hut and Tower Records either?  Fuck this game, I'm sticking with the Dreamcast version.

This game looks like a pile of shit

Posted by I_smell

Let's make a LLAAAAAAAAZY PORT!

Posted by zoltan2357

Yeah, the lack of Offspring/Bad Religion is a dealbreaker for me. Too bad.

Posted by HandsomeDead

No Offspring? I could not give less of a fuck about this.

More importantly, no Tower Records. I mean that place doesn't even exist anymore.

Meh...

But if they put out Smashing Drive, the far superior taxi-based arcade game, out on XBLA, I'd buy it instantaneously.

(It probably doesn't hold up as well as I remember it being in the arcades.)

The music change means a no sale from me.

Exactly. How can I complete a proper run of crazy taxi without this song starting me off. This just seems wrong.
Edited by Zithe

I see that Jeff is still awful at "crazy dashing." No wonder he never gets through more than 2 or 3 people in Arcade.

All those times in the Quick Look where he is driving around town at a snail's pace, he should be boosting instead.

Posted by ch3burashka

No licensed stuff = half the reason to buy it gone. Especially Offspring.

Posted by gamerpigeon

why do they always bash the game in a way that makes it sound like they never liked the game back then , i know this isnt the case , hell they even say so at the end BUT throughout they make the game sound like its terrible now and always was.

Posted by Teaspoon83

No original soundtrack, no purchase! And this is probably one I don't mind the named product placement. It was great back at the arcade and the Dreamcast, this is a bad port.

Imagine living in a world with no FILA store. That's what I call crazy.
Posted by sparks50

This looks a lot worse graphically than the PC version

Posted by Pop

I liked it and I played it a couple of months ago and think it's still decent in 10 min sessions, I could never beat the box mode, oh and the break then accelerate thing was weird I could never do it right and fail the jumping.

I'll stick with my Dreamcast version. :D

Some Offspring was...All I Want'd in this game.

Posted by ApolloBob

Good to know for people who hate in game advertising - eventually (years and years later, sure) a version will come out that strips it out.

Posted by Pepto

No original music = no sale.

Posted by Mesoian

Ah, easy points.
Shame about no more offspring and bad religion though

Posted by MachidaX89

This was fun on the PS2. And the soundtrack on that was better than this pile of crap.

I agree man.  The one thing that really annoys me about the guys is how much graphics seem to matter to them, especially with older games.  Don't get me wrong, I appreciate cool graphics and they can work in a game's favor, but ultimately gameplay is what's important.  It seems like with a lot of older 3D games, they seem to suggest they are unplayable because the graphics are so "bad" (outdated).  Crazy taxi is crazy hard, but the concept seems sound.  Why knock it's graphics?  Is it really a surprise a 10 year old game doesn't look like Red Dead?

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

Wait.. so there's no Offspring, no KFC, no Pizza Hut, no Levi's and no Tower Records?  Unless they changed it so that now your fares tell you all about them in some crazy Days of Our Lives moment, no thank you sir!

Crazy Taxi was never cool. Ever. There I said it.

Will not get this because of that. FFFFFFFFFFFF

No Pizza Hut, KFC or Levi's? Fuck this game.

Posted by shiro11

No adds and no offspring really makes this not feel like crazy taxi at all.

I do agree with Brad that N64 and PS1 games today are kind of hard to play through now because of how they look, and I agree that the PS2 era of consoles (which the Dreamcast is a part of) is when things started to "look good", the Dreamcast should not be grouped with the N64 and PS1. Shenmue, the Capcom fighters (Project Justice, etc), Dead or Alive 2, Sega Sports games, and others look just as good as anything on PS2 save maybe Resident Evil 4 (which probably could've been done for the Dreamcast if optimized), and "hold up" to this day as far as "looking good".

I suppose Brad only said "some Dreamcast games", and I'm sure he remembers what he said during the tennis DC quick look throwback as far as graphics go, but it bugs me when people group Dreamcast with the wrong gen of consoles.

The lack of Offspring robs this game of its soul

Posted by fazzle

As much as I hated hearing the same 3 Offspring songs over and over again, the game just doesn't feel the same without it.

Posted by lordofultima

no offspring or kfc? sorry, but that's the whole appeal of the game. NO SALE

Let's make some c-r-r-r-r-aaaazy money!

They in no way hold up to the standards today.
Posted by BBQBram

Yeah I remember this game, played it on the arcade and at my friend who had the budget Gamecube port...it seemed past it's prime then, is all I'm saying about this one.

Posted by Peewi

It's definitely not a direct port of the PC version. The PC copy I have has "the original Lewi's store", which I see is just clothing store in this.
Posted by NocturnusFatalis
@SuperSambo:
Perhaps you misread, or perhaps we simply differ in opinion, I don't know. I said, last gen is when things started looking good, as in, games were 3D, and characters in the games were not blocky. This particular game does not hold up well, but if PS2 games are the standard to go off of (based on what Brad said), Dreamcast was every bit as capable of producing the same quality, and indeed has games (the ones I named) that were on par with just about any PS2 release, and thus would "hold up". Compared to today, of course, last gen's games don't have the same visual flair.

I miss the Dreamcast. Such a great and underrated system.

Second Crazy Taxi QL in a year! What is going on?

Actually, technically the other one was more than a year ago. BUT THIS IS STILL NUTS.

Posted by august

The pop punk, the advertising, the art style, the gameplay. I pretty much hated everything about Crazy Taxi.

Posted by CornBREDX

I was never a fan of crazy Taxi. Mainly cus I am awful at it and never had the want to get better at it.

That being said, the graphics have nothing to do with why I wont get the game haha. It appeals to some people and others it does not. I don't mind the graphics and actually they do look a little better in this than in their dreamcast counter part (which you can see in Giantbomb's Quick Look Flashback a little over a year ago).

It's never really been a game that appealed to me, though. That's all I really think about that. =)

Posted by Landon

I never saw the appeal of this game.

Posted by Malakhii

I played way too much crazy taxi on Dreamcast. I don't know if I can ever go back to that place again.

Edited by Getz

This game blows. It  blew then, and it's blows now.

Great arcade game. Terrible console game.
