Unimpressive, Game Room. You disappoint again.

All pre-nintendo games need to die.

Enterprise gets owned at 3:45.  Thank you mid-80's  Nintendo for making good games and making these awful games obsolete.

Yeaaaah, not such a hot batch this time around. Hopefully this is just paving the way for an equivalent "Summer of Arcade" style deluge of games people really want.

About time

I can't separate Pitfall from Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio," which plays in the Activision Anthology.

Super Breakout looks like the only descent one.

Wow, is Microsoft trying to actively kill Game Room?  Every single game in the entire product so far should be a bundle costing $5

JEFF and BRAD? This combo feels . . . unnatural.

I've yet to purchase any Gameroom titles.

CONCEPTUALLY Gameroom is fantastic, yet when I get in there and start playing these games, the nostalgia factor simply isn't enough to hold my attention beyond a quick demo session. C'mon, who's going to actually shell out cash for Basketball?

I'll keep downloading the packs as they're released (and demoing the ones I'm interested in) for now, but my hard drive space is scant, and unless some more interesting titles start hitting the service, I'm going to lose interest pretty quick.

Thank you thank you thank you!  Glad you guys covered this weeks releases and hope that you cover each batch of games that come out.  I love Game Room and bought them all and will continue to do so.  No hints on where I can find that list of upcoming game room releases and dates?

You just sunk the 8-ball off the break. That should be an automatic win...

i dont get why someone would want to play this stuff ! it was cool when i was about 6 years old, because i didnt know any better and this was the bomb in those day's . but in 2010 ??? with games like mw2 , uncharted etc....  why would you spend money on this ? i can understand that if you never played these games and you just want to know what it was like for us back in the day ...
but now you have emulators on your net and you can get them for free !!!  or are you a sucker for avatars and virtual arcade's ???

You're never going to understand, kid.

" I'm interested in Game Room, but can't get over the fact that it's a little pricey for what you're getting. "

Definitely. There is so much else I want to buy on XBLA, but the price on the individual Game Room games cuts deep. Not willing to drop that sort of cash on these old games despite how much I loved some of them.

I hope they will appear in the Deal of the Week XBLM page sometime.

I love Game Room, wasn't the best week of releases for me though. I got Super breakout but can't say the controls work very well, paddle is a bit too erratic at times.

Looking forward to next week though for some Battlezone and Mega Zone fun!

Looking at Pitfall! I can see why it has classic status. Everything about it screams classic. I look forward to the weekly Game Room update QL.

@ryanwho:
No actually I think  the "kid" understands quite well.   I don't see a reason for Game Room to exist either.

When/If I want to play Pitfall (or any of these games for that matter), I can play it by either downloading it off the net, playing a flash based version, or finding one of the cheap Atari (or other branded)  plug in emulators that has a ton of games.

There are so many ways to play these titles and the pricing for Game Room is insanely high when you compare the actual return of investment.  You can buy so much more foir the amount of money some people have spent on Game Room.

Game Room is junk.

i havent even been in game room downloaded it and forgot to go in

You know what would really make GameRoom worth it?
Late 80's and 90's games.
Just think of playing Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom, Alien vs Predator, Gals Panic, Metal Slug, Waku Waku 7, Knights of The Round, Elevator Action Returns....
I imaging that the license holders for all those games are probably being dicks about it and don't wanna see them released by others, but it would make GameRoom so cool!

@NeilRapalee:

So you believe that it makes no sense that some people would rather pay a couple dollars to have a classic game stored on their current gen console rather than play a crappy flash port or backalley emulator?

Posted by Teaspoon83

Well, another week of not buying a single game. Volleyball? $3? I'm sure you can find Dead or Alive: Paradise for about the same price and hey, you get odd bouncing pillows too!

I would love to see the late 80-90's arcade games hit the Gameroom but who knows when that will happen. Till then, I still have my 2600. Anybody wanna play some E.T. ?

Andy Warhol plays a mean game of 9-ball.

Yeah. Still have no interest in Game Room.

The basketball is taking me back to when I was a wee lad.  Nightstalker was the Joint.  I probably put a gazillion hours into that game.  Good times.  I may have to pull out the Intellivision for old times sake.

Bought Pitfall immediately thinking it was Pitfall 2. Was really sad when the music didn't start playing and there were no electric eels.

Posted by Gabriel

God those games look boring, I could barley play pool in GTA 4

Where is Defender?!

Posted by budgie

Wait, Pitfall 2's out!?

Posted by Jayzilla

These games were great in there day and now they seem as fun as playing jacks with school kids.

basketball...

Basically Pitfall and Super Breakout.

Posted by uglybob

these games belong in the past, not on a current console. stick it on a disc if your really interested in it but i cannot see the appeal. i downloaded it and tried it, all the games were crap and the controls left me agitated.

1978. I was 5 years old. Damn...

Pitfall still looks fun to play!

The first time I ever saw an ad for Night Stalker was at a drive-in. It was a newscast type setup and the announcer was talking to the character in the game. Good times...
