REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMIX!

Which they must have called this game because the menu is obviously a remix of...

Edited by RE_Player1

This isn't biggest disappointment or anything but man I wished I never bought it.

I love Remixes.

The game's currency icon looks like bitcoins.

Yeah, I'm with Jeff. This is way too not wacky enough. It frankly looks boring as shit.

The real disappointment is that we've seen this concept done better elsewhere. C'mon Nintendo.

This looks shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

I guess I'm in the minority, because I really dig this game. Bite-sized challenges that I can jump on and play a few of every now-and-then. They get progressively harder and wackier and more fun (albeit frustrating on occasion because of the difficulty).

They should do a Quick Look Remix when all the other stages and games have been unlocked.

Stupid question but I don't suppose you can play the actual games can you?

The games in question have all been released on the Virtual Console. You can't actually play them from within NES Remix, though.

Call me crazy but I was surprised to see this get a low review. Im loving this game. I have a nostalgic craving that comes up from time to time to play the games of my childhood. I was getting my fix playing roms on my smartphone but the touch screen controls just dont give the same feel. This game is awesome, but I guess you need to have grown up playing these games to really appreciate them. What would have made it better would have been leader boards. I played this a ton when I bought it, and now my girlfriend plays to beat my scores but you cant tell cause there is no leader board. Thats really my only complaint.

Im hoping they have the ability to add more games down the road through DLC.

"Id buy that for a Dollar" (anyone tell me what movie that quote is from?)

I think Jeff grew up playing these games.

@illuminosopher: When I think about his opinions on food, I think maybe you're right.

Really surprised no one made a bitcoin joke.

This seems super lame.

There is a Game Theory video going more in depth about the "dark backstory" of Mario that they touched on a bit here. It's pretty entertaining.

Honestly this seems kinda cool. I would probably pay 15$ for this if it was on the 3DS

So that's how they got the idea for Limbo...

I love that dude. The Majora's Mask video is my favorite one though.

This seems like the worst execution of a great idea I've seen in a very long time.

Posted by ProfessorEss

Every time they go into the menu screen I keep waiting for the sax from The Cosby Show theme to kick in.

I love Brad's puns. :)

Just finished watching. Looks to me like Nintendo had a great opportunity to approach their classic franchises in a refreshing, exciting way, but they played it too safe. Surprise! (I guess)

EDIT: It also made me nervous when they announced it in that Nintendo Direct, then released it with no warning within a week or 2.

I dunno, this seems cool to me

Jeff droppin' knowledge bombs!

Brad's bad at vid... wait minute Jeff?!?

Edited by AndrewB

Way too harsh on this game. Only sticking points would be the price and the fact that it starts off slow. Otherwise it looks nifty.

Posted by flippyandnod

I like this better than the Bombers do. But it would get old playing so many snippets of the originals just to get to the remixes.

I think if I stretched it out, playing it only a couple hours a week I could get $15 of value out of it.

There's a whole lot of armchair game design in this video. I understand you're looking at things at face value, but the negativity is getting me down.

A tutorial for a 2D NES game.

Jesus Christ, kids today are stupid. Or at least nintendo thinks they are. The game probably comes with a pack-in bottle of Adderall.

Terrible.

I feel like they should have played more of this before doing the Quick Look. The fact that the stuff they were complaining about not being in the game is actually in the game kinda proves that. By the end it was getting to be kinda neat.

I don't know, I think they do these to show what it would be like for someone jumping in to the game rather than a comprehensive overview. If you bought this thinking it would be a mashup of all these games right off the bat, it would be a bummer to find out you had to grind your way through repetitive boring levels to even unlock more than a handful of games.

Edited by Viking_Funeral

Well, that looks awful.

Maybe it's because I grew up with the original games, but I'd rather just play them then being taught the mechanics of each game without ever being able to play them. It seems like it might eventually get cool, but any game with a 5+ hour tutorial is going to be avoided.

Edited by gbrading

It's such a shame they couldn't have done way crazier things.

Posted by lightsoda

I just want a compilation of Jeff dance horn and beatbox.

Posted by holybins

I agree that Jeff is a little harsh on this, but for him personally (extremely experienced) I can see why it's boring. I'd pick this up to scratch a completion-ist itch - cruising through those initial stages will probably pay off with those other games and (most likely) more challenging stages.
