By just looking at the screenshot, these guys look like complete assholes.

The note highway actually looks like it might work for this. I can't see the game being a success, but it certainly is interesting.

God, I hate new rockers. Not the musicians, but the people who enjoy the music.

God, so many cringe moments in this video it was really hard to watch...

Apparently the people in this video are oblivious to Rock Band 3's pro mode. I don't blame them though. I blame the Ubisoft people who are in no way oblivious to it, yet they put this video together with clips of false information none-the-less.

I read the video title as SSX..looks okay, but kinda disappointing considering what I expected.

I'd like to hear from real people if this thing works or not.  I'll just wait for it to come out I guess.

Ubisoft! Turn your hype down, god damn it! I can't hear myself playing Rockband while your making all this noise!

Also, note to crazy blond lady: I can think of several places I'd rather be than at  Ubisoft's bus. Like any number of Austin's steak houses.

This looks more like a learning/practice tool seeing as they basically doing a 3D representation of tabs. I don't really see the game part of it. That said if it actually works well I could see myself maybe picking it up to aid in practicing especially since my better amp is back at my parents place while I'm at university due to lack of space.

The video does seem real cheesy though.

So question for you guitar players out there: if you HAD to recommend ONE game for which a person to learn guitar on, based completely on interface, which would be best - this game, or Rock Band 3 with the real guitar?

Personally I'd like to see more of what this "game" (really to me it looks more like a practicing aid instead of a game) really is and how responsive it is in registering what you are playing. That said I don't really like Rock Band 3's pro mode it still seems kind of gamey in the way that the UI is presented.

As for learning guitar you really should be using books and at the start a teacher to help guide you with finger placement, timing and such. Teacher is mainly for giving you pointers on how to control your hands better and to help give some discipline of getting you in the mindset to actually learn the basic and to give feedback to be like "you haven't been practicing this week" or "nice you're good with that exercise now work on these ones for next week."

Like mastering any skill learning how to play guitar requires practice, dedication and a desire to put up with the more boring stuff before you can do some crazy ass solo.

eh, I liked Guitar Hero 3, and Rock Band is fun, but I mean, I'm already tired of it. and the peripherals

Color me intrigued.  I mean, obviously Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar does this already (and does it well IMO), but that doesn't mean there's no room for another take on it.

Anyway - the game will probably suck, but can we have Vinny review it or do a thorough Quick Look? It's at least an interesting attempt at doing some modern edutainment.

Am I the only one who noticed the on-screen directions are flipped vertically compared to regular guitar tabs? That'd confuse the hell out of me.

so...only talk to people who praise the game, and ignore the fact that RB3 has a controller with strings.

When I saw the word, "Authentic" at the sub-title, I immediately just burst out laughing.
