I bet this turns into the new Tony Hawk franchise where they will be adding hardly anything.

Not interested.

skate may be the only franchise i know that has looked worse over time.

I'm really scared of this game now. I love Skate but this is really looking a lot like THPS now... I mean, bulldozers? Why ever happened to the realism? I just hope there's realistic playability for those who care.

dont really care about team play but still looking forward to more skate :)

Ok, May 2010, fair enough.  I was thinking "Skate 2 JUST came out not too long ago"

But still, it doesn't look like they added too much to Skate 3 at this point.  A new city, that looks stylistically like the old city.

And it's still surprising that they are rolling this out right away.  Considering Skate 2 did not enjoy the same success Skate did, it would be NICE to see them try to change up the formula a bit, try something new.  The controls are the bread and butter of this franchise, but maybe change something else.

Ok so let me get this straight. This game has the exact same gameplay, exact same graphics, exact same movement, exact same physics, exact same sound... And now a SKATE game comes out every year... With only a redisigned level which probably won't be as good as the first one as it is too flat, boring, too realistic, only a little portion of tricks added... Yeah some of the things I mentioned weren't said in the interview but I know that is what SKATE 3 is going to be like. And no I am not a Tony Hawks fanboy. No wonder SKATE 2 was boring as I didn't get halfway through it and it just was covered in dust by the time I remembered it to trade in. I could make a list with all of the flaws but it would be too time consuming. I have to admit though the co-op feature sounds cool but I am not bothered with this game TBH. However, I can tell that this game is going to have so many annoying missions like the first two.

I enjoyed the first game... but I didn't really like Skate 2 that much, which seems weird because it was very similar.  I'm not really excited for Skate 3 at all.

What about Guitar Hero?

I would play Skat 3

Dude...for a game like this, Ya want it to be the same! believe me.

I'd hate for them to ruin the formula.

Dude, it's one spot. And last time I checked, you could do such a trick on such a surface. It's not that difficult, the only problem is landing it.

at least the graphics have improved.

look at this trailer from the first game. this came out a whole 2 years ago and looks just as good if not better. these new trailers bring out the worst in the stiff animation of the game. somewhere down the line they lost sight of what they wanted out of skate.

I enjoyed Skate 2 and the multiplayer options were cool but they coulda done more to keep people coming back.  Maybe this new "skate team" thing indicates that the game will have clan support.

Since this one will be set in a brand new city i wonder how they'll explain all the pro skaters moving from San Van to here storywise.  I know i shouldn't expect much from the story in a skate game but i'm curious to see what they come up with.

He cannot confirm nor deny the past consideration of the title "Skat3".

I dunno. Might skip number 3 and wait for 4. THPS has taught me that every other skateboarding game in a franchise should usually be skipped.

The additions seem very slightly incremental and probably should have put it into Skate2. Then again I probably should have skipped 2 and bought 1 for cheap instead.

@Ryan: Keep growing out your hair.

Great interview!

I think this game looks much better than Skate 2.  I really wish though that there would be some way to skate in NSV in Skate 3, because I really liked that city as well.

I had the pleasure of playing the alpha build at EA Guildford today. The emphasis was very much on the team modes. Overall very engaging, the control system feels very familiar. Roll on May 2010.

Posted by Media_Master

Its nice to hear they're making it more user friendly and more open spaced.

Posted by BolognaSoup

If they doing nothing else but make it 60fps, I'll buy it.

Posted by Golden
@BolognaSoup: The producers definately said 60 FPS today

Damn, Davis. Cut your hair.

they should totally do that.

May 2010 is still too close to the last version, if you ask me. They may have enough new content to justify it, but developers need to start noticing that there are only so many hours or days in a year that players can consume titles and squishing yours too close together can make it difficult, because now they have to decide whether to play your next iteration of last year's title or go play one of the other 50 great new things that have just come out.

Also... create your own online team with your friends? Yeah, because I TOTALLY know half a dozen guys around my own age (a little below the average age of the average gamer) who not only play video games, but play them on consoles... and are so into skating at their age that they'd get into an online skating videogame where they can have  a "crew" of real people to skate with.

I just don't see that happening.

Team, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!!

Posted by Splitterguy

If it's not as crazy difficult as the last two were like he says, then I'll buy it for sure.

Posted by g1antb0mb3r

Meh....Bought the first and enjoyed it. But skipped on 2 and it looks like i'm gonna skip this one too.  Teams? Really? Pass...
...and the comments are right...it doesn't look like the graphics weren't touched.

Ha was it me or did seem like Ryan would just jam that mic into the dude's face!! hahaha

Ryan's hair is how a skater's should be :P

Where did they say this? It would make a HUGE difference in this series, especially if it was locked at 60. It's just one of those games where 60 is a lot different than 30.

i pre ordered back in october. i hope they touch up the graphics....
