Take a Look at Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

I've just lost all want to play a KH game. The first one was excellent, and the second was really good, but with all of these side stories that are exclusive for 6 different platforms, I'm just don't care to even try to get into the series any more.

Really, Chain of Memories was OK. Added a LOT to the KH universe. Good bridge between 1 and 2. Then after that with the exception of Birth By Sleep... it's all been complete trash. I tried recoded and played a few hours but I just ... I can't. The other DS one was really awful, too. /:

While I think the title is terrible, I do hope that naming the subtitle for your game three D words becomes a trend. That will be the best worst trend ever if so.

I thought that "Sora & Riku" followed by bells meant that those two homosexuals would finally get married and end all that slashfiction bullshit. But no, apparently it's just a stage. At least it doesn't seem to be a regurgitated stage from the first game like the rest of the trailer.

I am seriously through with Square-Enix. To hell with them, I'm just fed up with their crap. I will NOT buy this just like I didn't buy any of the other KH handheld spin offs. I don't want a  spin off! I don't want to play these games on a friggin handheld! I don't want to play the same type of game with the same art assets over and over again. I want innovation and evolution to the franchise. This looks just as stagnant and uninspired  as both of the DS games. 
 
We're never gonna get a true HD Kingdom Hearts game because they're lazy bastards, and don't have the talent nor the aspiration to keep up in today's gaming industry. Making games for handhelds is a cop out because they don't have the know how to make a good game on current generation consoles. Shit like FFXIII and FFXIV just helped prove that.

Oh look. Traverse Town. Using the exact same locations from Kingdom Hearts 1 on the PS2. Again.

I used to care about kingdom hearts, but now they're just destroying the story and making up some bullshit metaphorical statement to justify it.

The only interesting things Kingdom Hearts related since 2006 have been the secret trailers. 
 
Also, Giant Bomb team, I know it's a lot of work, but if you guys know guys who know Japanese, it would super cool of you to get these translated. 
 
Also, I can't remember the last time I've heard a phrase as bland and meaningless as "Dream Drop Distance." How about "Don't Do Denouements." It describes this series perfectly.

Hey guys look! It's another Kingdom Hearts game... and this time... it's a spinoff of a spinoff of a spinoff of a spinoff of a spinoff!

It's really annoying to always see people lump in Birth by Sleep with "those spin-offs." Birth by Sleep is not a spin-off. It's chronologically the first game in the series, and if you don't play it you won't know jack shit of what's going on in KH3 since it'll be your job to save a bunch of characters whom you've never been introduced to yet. Why the hell are you even interested in KH3 if you don't care about the story? Just go play Versus XIII instead and pretend that's KH3.
 
Yes, 358/2 Days was spin-off title meant for fans of Roxas. It focuses on his backstory and can be safely ignored. Re:coded just reiterates stuff that has already been stated in KH2 Final Mix and BBS. Nomura claims KH3D will be another mainline game and put his in-house B-team (Birth by Sleep) on the job whereas those other DS games were outsourced, but I'll have to admit that I have my doubts when yet again we're playing as young Sora and Riku killing heartless in Traverse Town (though the trailer showed off Notre Dame as well).
 
Either way, stop fucking complaining about these spin-offs when you clearly don't give a fuck about the series to begin with. Why should the series have ended with the first game when it's sold more than 10 million units since then? Just because I don't give a fuck about Halo doesn't mean I go around saying "well, the first game was alright, but when they decided to flesh out the universe a bit more things became too much for my feeble little brain to handle, so they probably should've just ended it with the first game."
 
Just don't bother ever commenting on anything KH related again when you've already made up your mind on the franchise. These games clearly aren't targeted at you.

Looks pretty good for a Wii game.

They need to stop making these shitty little bit games. If they keep this up its gonna harm their game name,

I was as invested in this series as anyone for years but it has gotten ridiculous just like everything else SE has touched lately.
 
You know when you see fans sticking up for things that "expand the universe" they've got em by the balls.  That expression is practically board meeting lingo for big money with little effort. I'm not gonna read any Star Wars novelizations either for that matter.
 
Correct at the end though. These games ceased to target me the minute they started catering to the 12 year old who hates his parents for no reason and thinks nobody understands.

I don't like how Square Enix has "franchised" KH in the same way that they did FF. 

All these spinoffs are making me sick. But I suppose Square has to love'em, as they have to be unbelievably cheap to produce. After all, they haven't had to make a single new art asset since Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2! Just bring in the programmers for a few more months, tweak the code from KH2 and level designs, run it through the DS/PSP/3DS GDK and start printing the discs. In a way, it's brilliant. Square-Enix is like, the Activision of Japan at this point...

I'm fine with the side stories, chain of memories was amazing and birth by sleep pretty good, but i wish they'd stop remaking games they allready put out, kh games are not old enough to warrant remakes.

The gameplay looks interesting and all, but if there is a game with a premise that does not support a franchise this long it's Kingdom Hearts. I can no longer suspend disbelief to give a damn about this sci-fi political intrigue thing with Mickey Mouse and Final Fantasy characters in it.

Oh no, how many games are going to go the 3-D:s naming scheme. I remember the DS ones, stupid!

Japanese Mickey Mouse does not sound anything like I'd imagined he would, and I've spent literally seconds imagining what he would sound like.

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, for someone like me who has only played KH1 and 2, would Birth By Sleep be easy to understand?

Kingdom Hearts really took a wrong turn somewhere. I feel that the complexity of the story has just gone way out of control. Had they actually put some thought in it and explained everything well (or better yet, actually decided how the entire universe works from the very beginning!), the sequels could have been so much more. Now it just feels like Lost or Heroes, in the sense that they keep retconning stuff and making shit up on the fly. 
 
Make a universe, and stick to it. How hard is that?

The gameplay is starting to look as confusing as the story.
